Actor Dharmendra shares video of his 60+ year old Fiat 1100 sedan

Actor Dharmendra is renowned for his roles in numerous Bollywood movies. He has been a part of the film industry for an extended period and has acted in and produced several films. While he owns many vehicles, there is one car that holds a special place in this veteran actor’s heart – a Fiat 1100. It was the first car he ever purchased, and he still cherishes it to this day. Recently, the actor shared a social media post featuring him posing with his beloved car. The Fiat 1100 is over 60 years old and was bought by the actor in 1960.

The actor shared a video on his personal Instagram page where he can be heard saying, “Hi friends, this is my first car. I bought it for only ₹18,000. In those days, ₹18,000 was a considerable amount. I have maintained it well. Do you like it? Please pray that it stays with me always.” In an interview, the actor had previously shared why he didn’t sell the car. He kept the Fiat 1100 with him because he was apprehensive that he might lose his job someday, and he could use the car as a taxi.

The Fiat 1100 was one of the first cars to be launched in the Indian market. At that time, Fiat as a manufacturer gained immense popularity in the country. The Fiat cars were very famous among the affluent community and were considered a status symbol. Today, the Fiat 1100 is regarded as a vintage car, and many car collectors possess well-maintained examples of this car.

The Fiat 1100 was known for its unique design, which attracted several admirers on the road. The actor’s car appears to be well-maintained, with an olive green shade and bronze or copper-colored inserts at various places. He may have also refurbished the interiors to keep them fresh. The Fiat 1100 was equipped with a 1,089 cc, four-cylinder petrol engine, capable of generating a maximum of 36 Bhp, coupled with a 4-speed manual gearbox. The power from the engine was transmitted to the rear wheels. Even today, this car can be easily found in many parts of the country, especially Mumbai, where it was widely used as a taxi.

As mentioned earlier, actor Dharmendra has added several cars to his garage over the years. The actor and his family possess a collection of luxury cars and SUVs, including the Mercedes-Benz SL500, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and Land Rover Range Rover SUV, among others. Other members of the family have been seen in vehicles such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class S550, Porsche 911, and Porsche Cayenne. Dharmendra’s wife drives cars like the Hyundai Santa Fe, Audi Q5, and Mercedes-Benz ML-Class. Other family members have also been seen in cars such as the Pajero SFX, BMW X6, Audi Q5, and BMW X5 luxury SUVs. His son Sunny Deol who is an actor turned politician and also the Member of Parliament had recently bought a current generation Land Rover Defender. His other son Bobby Deol also is often spotted in a Red coloured Porsche 911 sports car.
