Sedans are all-time favourites of buyers considering ‘practical cars’. Because of the big boot space and roomy rear row space, sedans are quite popular in the market. In 2018, there are many exciting and affordable sedans, which are scheduled for our market. Here is all you need to know about them.
Tata Tigor Sport

Now there are a couple hot hatchbacks on this of the expensive, the choices for sedan lovers are much more vast. Tata is planning to add to list of sporty sedans in the market by launching “sports” iteration of the Tigor sedan in the market.
Details about the engine or the suspension set-up are not out yet but Tata will add more power to the package. The Tigor feels quite underpowered in its current form. With the Sports version, Tata may power with the same 1.5-litre engine that is found under the hood of Nexon. It produces 108 Bhp and 260 Nm of peak torque.
Honda Amaze
The Amaze sedan marked Honda’s debut in diesel segment in India. Honda is now preparing the all-new Amaze that will be launched next year in India. The new Amaze has been spied at Honda’s Tapukara plant and is expected to be showcased at the Auto Expo 2018. The car will become roomier but will remain under the 4-meter mark.
Honda is also expected to put a more powerful version of the 1.5-litre diesel engine, but the 1.2-litre petrol engine is expected to remain same. It will also get a number of new features like climate control, new infotainment system among others. The launch is expected to happen in the first quarter of this year.
Maruti Ciaz FL
Maruti recently shifted the Ciaz from the regular Maruti network to the Nexa premium dealerships. Maruti is currently working on a facelift version of the Ciaz. The new update in works will keep the Ciaz fresh in the market. Suzuki has already updated the Ciaz (sold as Alivio) in China.
The same updates could be carried to the Indian version and the car has already been spotted testing under a heavy camouflage. The car gets revised alloy wheels, new front and rear bumpers, new front grille and restyled fog lamp housings. Maruti may also include a sunroof to challenge the Verna and the City. Under the hood, the new Ciaz may get the new 1.5-litre petrol engine and the new 1.4-litre diesel engine developed by Maruti Suzuki.
Toyota Vios
Toyota is yet to enter the mid-size sedan segment in India. The Vios will be a big step forward and will rival the likes of Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. Toyota already is the leading brand in many segments in India but is still absent from the competitive segment. The Vios looks quite sharp and is wider than the City and Ciaz.
The car is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that generates a maximum of 108 Bhp and 1.4-litre diesel that produces 89 Bhp – 200 Nm. The petrol engine is expected to get CVT automatic and a 5-speed manual while the diesel engine will only get a 6-speed manual.
Ford Figo Aspire
The Ford Figo based sub 4-meter sedan made its debut sometime back in the Indian market. The Figo is scheduled to get a facelift this year. The sedan based on it will follow the suite. It is expected to get a new grille and minor styling changes to keep it crisp and up to date. The car is expected to get 1.2-litre Dragon petrol engine derived from the all-new 1.5-litre three-pot motor. The 1.5-litre diesel engine is expected to be the same.
Nissan Sunny FL
The Nissan Sunny may not be highlighted on the sales chart but the car is very much in contention when it comes to space. Nissan is expected to launch the all-new Sunny next year based on the new Micra’s K14 platform. While the global market will get the V-Platform based Sunny, the Indian market will get the CMF architecture based car. The Sunny may also become shorter than the current version. The 1.5-litre petrol engine that is available with the Duster is expected to power the vehicle. The diesel engine will the 1.5-litre, 108 Bhp unit.
