Honda will unveil the all-new 2018 Amaze compact sedan at the Auto Expo. The new car is expected to lift sales as the current Amaze has slowed down. From challenging the Dzire when it was first launched in 2013, the car is now selling less than a tenth ot the Dzire. The 2018 Amaze is expected to continue with the same petrol and diesel engines.

The petrol engine will be a 1.2 liter i-VTEC unit that produces 87 Bhp of peak power and 110 Nm of peak torque. 5 speed manual and CVT automatic gearboxes will be offered on the car. The other engine on the Amaze will be the 1.5 liter i-DTEC all-aluminium unit with 98.6 Bhp-200 Nm.

Though the new Amaze shares its diesel engine with the City, it is expected to get a 5 speed manual gearbox instead of the 6 speed unit that is offered on the former. The interiors of the new Amaze will also get a major update, and are expected to be more premium than before. Twin airbags and ABS will be offered as standard, and the car will also be ready to meet the upcoming Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program (BNVSAP) regulations.

The prices of the Amaze could go up marginally but Honda is expected to keep prices of the new car very competitive especially when compared with the Dzire. The Amaze will continue to take on other compact sedans in the sub-4 meter segment such as the Hyundai Accent, the Volkswagen Ameo, the Tata Zest and Tigor.
