Maruti Suzuki has just launched the all-new 2018 Swift hatchback in India. Introductory prices of the car start from Rs. 4.99 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi, going all the way up to Rs. 8..29 lakhs. In comparison, the Baleno starts from Rs. 5.47 lakhs.
The new Swift is available in a total of 12 variants, with two engine and two transmission options. Diesel variants are priced exactly Rs. 1 lakh more than equivalent petrol variants. All petrol variants get an ARAI certified mileage figure of 22 Kmpl, while the diesels are rated at 28.4 Kmpl.

Petrol – LXi: Rs. 4.99 lakhs, VXi: Rs. 5.87 lakhs, VXi AMT: Rs. 6.34 lakhs, ZXi: Rs. 6.49 lakhs, ZXi AMT: Rs. 7.26 lakhs and ZXi+: Rs. 7.29 lakhs.
Diesel – LDi: Rs. 5.99 lakhs, VDi: Rs. 6.87 lakhs, VDi AMT: Rs. 7.34 lakhs, ZDi: Rs. 7.49 lakhs, ZDi AMT: Rs. 8.26 lakhs, ZDi +: Rs. 8.29 lakhs.

All variants of the car get twin airbags and ABS as standard fare. The petrol variants of the Swift use the 1.2 liter K-Series, 4 cylinder engine with 82 Bhp-113 Nm. The diesel variants are powered by the 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet turbocharged engine with 74 Bhp-190 Nm. 5 speed manual and AMT options are on offer, on both the engines.
Thanks to the HEARTECT platform, the all-new Swift gets about 80 kilograms lighter than the outgoing model, both in petrol and diesel trims. What this also means is: better pep and fuel efficiency. For once, you can have your cake, and eat it too. The petrol models top out at 880 Kgs, and the diesels top out at 985 Kgs.

The new Swift gets totally revamped interiors, with the top-end model getting Maruti’s SmartPlay infotainment system that has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity apps. The car aso gets keyless entry, push-button start, automatic climate control, 60:40 split rear seats and a larger boot.
Ground clearance is rated a 163 mm, and the new Swift gets a 20 mm wheelbase to make for a roomier interior. Bookings for the car are already on at Maruti’s Arena-branded dealerships. The booking amount is pegged at Rs. 11,000, and deliveries are expected to start immediately.
