British motorcycle maker Triumph has just launched the all-new, 2018 Tiger 800 on-off road adventure motorcycle in India. The 2018 Tiger 800 comes with 200 upgrades, which could mean that it’s a major improvement over the current model. While we will know about how much the bike has improved after a comprehensive test drive on one, here are pricing details of the new bike. The 2018 Tiger XR 800 is priced at Rs. 11.76 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. The XRx 800 variant is costlier, at Rs. 13.13 lakhs, while the top of the line XCx 800 variant is priced at Rs. 13.76 lakhs.
One of India’s most popular adventure motorcycles in the imported bike category, the new Tiger 800 gets a new state of tune for the 800cc, triple cylinder four stroke engine. The lquid cooled, fuel injected engine makes 95 Bhp-79 Nm, figures identical to the older model but has a retune for better response and low end performance. The exhaust is now lighter and more sonorous while the first gear is lower for better torque at the bottom end. Also, an off-road pro riding mode is now offered, giving experienced riders the option of tweaking various settings for off road riding.
Other changes on the motorcycle include a new crankshaft, a new clutch, aero diffusers, full-LED lights on top-end variants, new switchgear with a cube design, and an adjustable screen. For a better riding position, the handlebar moves 10 mm back while the seat has 20 mm adjustability – a boon for shorter riders. The top-end models get fully adjustable WP suspension, Brembo brakes and a full TFT display for mid and top-end variants. The new bike is pricier than the outgoing version (whose prices started from Rs. 10.79 lakhs). The Tiger 800 will take on the BMW F750 GS and the F850 GS.
Triumph India’s managing director Vimal Sumbly said,
To deliver the best of Triumph, we here have been working on our engineering and technology to upgrade the capability of the Tiger 800 line-up for versatility on and off-road. These developments complement the Tiger’s agility, its easy riding style, as well as its existing distinctive Tiger poise — the new 800 line-up is built for maximum adventure, maximum dominance. Triumph as a brand is recognised not just for its iconic ancestry but also for the non compromised premium riding experience that it offers. This combination gives the brand a sure-fire edge in its category and the Tiger range is here to do the same.
