Suzuki will be revealing the new generation of S-Cross on November 25th. The new crossover has been spotted ahead of the launch, that too without camouflage. We can see that the design is completely new. However, the interior has not yet been revealed. There are two colours of the S-Cross that we can see in the pictures, there is an orange one and a grey one. The new 2022 S-Cross is expected to launch in India sometime in 2022.
We now get a new larger front grille. It has two chrome slats and the grille itself is hexagonal shaped. The headlamps are also new and are LED units. The chrome slats integrate with the headlamps and the headlamps will also have LED Daytime Running Lamps. The turn indicators have been placed separately in the fog lamp housing.
There are some design elements that give S-Cross a SUV look. It has a faux front and rear skid plate and thick plastic cladding all around. There are also newly designed alloy wheels and the rear is also all-new.
There are new tail lamps which are expected to be LED units. There is a chrome slat that connects both the tail lamps and the bumper is black in colour which gives a rugged look to the 2022 S-Cross. You also get a rear wiper with a washer, a high mounted stop lamp and a rear defogger.
The S-Cross is expected to go on sale with a 1.4-litre turbocharged BoosterJet engine that Suzuki also uses for the Swift Sport. It produces 127 bhp of max power and a peak torque output of 235 Nm. It is expected to come mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Moreover, Suzuki will also offer their all-wheel-drive system with this engine. It is called AllGrip.
The lower variants could get a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. It produces 103 bhp of max power and 138 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, now a 6-speed automatic unit is also expected.
Suzuki could now offer the S-Cross with a strong hybrid powertrain. So, they could use a 48-V mild hybrid system instead of the current 12V. This would help in increasing fuel efficiency and reducing emissions. The strong hybrid system would also provide torque assist function at low speeds and an idle start/stop system.
New Vitara Brezza to launch next year
Maruti Suzuki has started working on the new generation of the Vitara Brezza. The new compact SUV has already been spotted and it will launch sometime next year. There will be no changes to the powertrain except there can be a new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. However, it is expected to be based on the Heartect platform. The design will still remain boxy as one of the factors behind the success of Brezza was its design.
Suzuki has started testing the 5-door Jimny in the international market. It is expected to come to the Indian market next year. The 5-door Jimny will be more practical than the 3-door Jimny. So, it will attract more people. It will still come with a 4×4 drivetrain. However, we do not know whether Maruti will offer the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine or the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
