All-new Audi A3 launched

Audi India has already launched 3 vehicles this year, the A4 diesel, the A3 Cabriolet and the new Q3. To continue this momentum, the company has launched their 4th product for 2017 next month, the facelifted A3.

What’s new?

All-new Audi A3 launched

The A3 has gotten a minor facelift, which means there is a visual upgrade. So you now get a larger grille, new LED headlamps with DRLs, a new bumper, a refreshed tail lamp cluster and new 16″ alloy wheels. The car will look similar to the new A3 cabriolet, which was recently unveiled.

On the inside, the dashboard is similar to the current vehicle. What is however different is the fact that the new vehicle will get a 7″ infotainment screen as standard across the range. No, this is not a touch screen unit, but one controlled by the MMI dial, as it is on all other Audis. In addition to this, the car will get a new steering wheel. That about sums the interior and exterior changes.

Under the hood is where most of the changes are though. While the previous A3 had a sporty 1.8 liter petrol engine that produces 178 Bhp and 250 Nm, this one will feature a smaller 1.4 liter TFSi unit which produces 148 Bhp and 250 Nm. The engine features cylinder deactivation as well. This is the same engine that does duty on the A4 and is expected on the new Octavia facelift, which will be launched later in the year. The engine comes mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The diesel on the other hand is the same 2.0 liter unit which produces 139 Bhp and 320 Nm. This will come mated to a 6-speed DSG though.

Competition?

The A3 has only one competitor, and that is the Mercedes CLA, which got a facelift recently as well.

Prices:

The car will be on offer in two variants, one petrol and one diesel. The petrol one is priced at Rs 30.50 lakhs where as the diesel one is priced at Rs 32.30 lakhs ex showroom Delhi.
