Audi has taken covers off its all-new flagship sedan, the A8 at the ongoing Audi Summit in Barcelona. The all new model is the fourth generation vehicle and it features a lot of new technology.
Let us start off with the engines on offer. The A8 will be available with a 3.0 liter V6 petrol and diesel engine option to start with. The diesel produces 282 Bhp while the petrol produces 335 Bhp. There is a 4.0 liter V8 diesel engine which will also be on offer which will produce 429 Bhp. The range topping petrol will be the 6.0 liter W12. In addition to this, there will also be a plug-in hybrid variant, which will be based on the 3.0 liter petrol engine and will produce 443 Bhp and 700 Nm. The batteries can run the car for upto 31 miles, under full charge.
Design highlights include an all-new design language, with HD Matrix LED headlights with Audi’s laser technology and OLED tail lamps. On the inside, there is an all-new dashboard with a 10.1″ touchscreen system. The vehicle also becomes the first one to get rear foot massagers, a segment first.
The main highlight of this vehicle of the vehicle is the fact that the A8 now gets pilot driving. There is something called the Audi AI traffic jam pilot which takes charge of the car when driving upto a speed of 60 kmph. It can manage accelerating, braking and steering. This enables the driver to relax while the car takes over and when the limit of the system is reached, it will ask the driver to take over again. The car also gets the parking pilot, which allows the vehicle to steer into a parking without the need for a driver to do so.
The car is also fitted with an improved fully active suspension, which is fully controllable and has multiple setup options.
It is expected to reach the Indian market sometime in 2018
