BMW has finally launched the all-new 5 Series in the Indian market. The car was previously shown to prospective customers ahead of the launch.
Variant and pricing:
The all-new G30 5 Series can be had in a total of 3 engine options and 4 variants. There is only one petrol engine on offer in only a single trim level. The petrol 530i Sport trim is priced at Rs 49.90 lakhs ex-showroom. The base diesel, the 520d can be had in both Sport and Luxury lines, priced at Rs 49.90 lakhs and Rs 53.60 lakhs respectively. The top end diesel, the 530d Msport is priced at Rs 61.30 lakhs, ex-showroom.
This is the all-new generation 5 Series. With this generation change, the company has managed to shed close to 70 kgs of weight over the previous generation model. The company has made the new 5 look a like the new 7 Series. It gets similar LED headlamps upfront with LED fog lamps and the similarly styled grille and bumper. The tail lamp cluster is different though. On the inside too the car resembles the larger 7 Series. The car gets the larger iDrive screen which now supports gesture control and has the touch screen function. The iDrive can also be customised, unlike before. Now you can select applications that you commonly use and keep them on the home screen, so that it is easier to navigate. The vehicle also gets navigation as standard.
All models get the new display key, however the Sport line doesn’t get the auto-park option. Heads up display and wireless charging are among the unique features which the 5 Series offers.
Under the hood, there are 3 engine options, as we mentioned above. The petrol is the 4 cylinder 2.0 liter turbo petrol unit making 249 Bhp and 350 Nm. The base diesel is also a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder unit making 187 Bhp and 400 Nm. The top spec diesel is the inline 6 cylinder 3.0 liter unit making 261 Bhp and 620 Nm.
