All-new Ford Ecosport coming in January?

Ford’s Ecosport has been a massive success story in the Indian market when it was newly introduced. No other manufacturer could come up with a compact SUV fast enough to rival the Ecosport, giving it a lot of advantage. Times have changed now and we have Maruti’s Vitara Brezza and a few offerings from Mahindra too, in the compact SUV segment. In a bid to stay up to date with competition, Ford will be introducing the newly launched Ecosport in the Indian market soon.

A report by Carwale states that the new Ecosport can be launched as soon as this month. A few units have been imported for homologation and testing purposes a few months back. So what’s new in the Ecosport?

In the looks department, it has new headlamps with LED DRLs, new fog lamps, a new grill and bumper unit and new tail lamps. Also, the new Ecosport has lost the exterior mounted spare wheel at the back. While the global version lost it a long time ago, it continued to be present on the Indian version till now. The inside is where you will see a drastic change. While the current version has a very cluttered dashboard with a lot of buttons, the new vehicle has a much more sophisticated dash with a touch screen sytem. This makes the Ecosport feel a lot more plush and high end. The new car also features Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Since Maruti has introduced the same in the Brezza, we could be getting the same unit on the Indian version as well.

Under the hood, we expect the same 1.5 liter diesel engine and the 1.0 liter Ecoboost to continue. The Ecosport also comes with a 1.5 liter NA petron engine mated to an automatic transmission which will also be on offer. While the global version has the option of a larger engine and 4wd, our car will surely loose out on it.
