Hyundai Creta has been a very popular mid-size SUV in the segment and the new generation model is no exception. It was launched earlier this year and is such a short span of time, Hyundai has received over 1.15 lakh bookings for this SUV. It is by no means a proper SUV and only comes with a front wheel drive option. It is a spacious and feature loaded SUV that has ample amount of road presence. As mentioned, it is not a proper SUV but, has some of its characters like high ground clearance. This allows it tackle the bad patches and broken roads that we normally see on our roads without any problem. Here we have a video of the new Creta that shows how it performs if it is taken off the road.
The video is uploaded by MUSAFIR RAJ on his youtube channel. The video starts by showing the Creta. The vlogger has parked the car on a rocky river bed and plans to drive on it. He is driving a base E trim diesel Creta with aftermarket alloy wheels installed on it. The vlogger gets into the car and starts driving through the rocky river bed. The Creta is not exactly fording a river but is definitely being driven through a place where there are no proper roads. The locals have cleared section with less rocks and that part is now used as a track for car, bikes or any other vehicles.

The vlogger is aggressively driving through that track and the Creta seems to be in control. After covering some distance there is a water crossing and the vlogger gets in and out of the water without any drama. That is actually not a good practice though. Whenever you come across a water crossing, it is always a good option to get down and check whether there are any obstacles and the depth of the section. If the section is too deep, there is a possibility that the water might get into the intake and the engine might get hydro-locked. Always cross such sections slowly if you are not familiar with the place.
Hyundai Creta did not hit the bottom anywhere in this whole video which shows that it has ample ground clearance to tackle harsh roads. It is available with a 1.4 litre turbo petrol, 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5 litre diesel engine. It is currently the best selling SUV in the segment and competes with Kia Seltos, MG Hector and Tata Harrier in the mid-sized SUV segment.
