The all-new i20 premium hatchback is turning out to be a big hit for Hyundai. The i20 has already clocked 20,000 bookings in just 20 days. The automaker has already delivered over 4,000 units of the all-new i20 premium hatchback to customers during the festive season of Deepawali. Given the brisk booking numbers for the all-new Hyundai i20, the car is likely to be another big hit.
The all-new i20 offers plenty of choice for buyers with multiple variants, engines and transmission options. In fact, one in every four buyers has opted for automatic/semi-automatic variants of the car while one in three buyers have opted for the sunroof equipped, top-end trims. Even the diesel variant has garnered decent demand, with one out of every five buyers picking the option.
Commenting on the response, Mr. Tarun Garg, Director (Sales, Marketing & Service), Hyundai Motor India Ltd., said,

The all-new Hyundai i20 sold in India gets three engine options: a 1.2 liter-4 cylinder naturally aspirated petrol with 82 Bhp-114 Nm, a 1 liter-3 cylinder turbocharged petrol with 118 Bhp-172 Nm and a 1.5 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged diesel with 99 Bhp-240 Nm. The naturally aspirated petrol gets 5 speed manual and CVT automatic options while the turbo petrol engine gets a 6 speed iMT (semi-automatic) and 7 speed twin clutch automatic options. The diesel engine gets a 6 speed manual gearbox as standard.
Prices of the all-new Hyundai i20 start from Rs. 6.8 lakhs, making the car significantly expensive than its main rival – the Maruti Baleno. And the story is the same as you move up the variant chain, with the price gap widening further. However, the all-new i20 offers a lot more equipment than competition, and this is perhaps why so many buyers are opting for the new car despite the price premium. The new i20 is lighter than the outgoing, Elite model, and this gives the new car peppier acceleration and better fuel efficiency.
