Mahindra Thar is one of the most popular 4×4 SUVs in the market. The car was launched in the market last year and it quickly became popular in a short span of time. The car is so popular that there is currently a waiting period of almost an year on the SUV. There are several examples of modified Mahindra Thar available in India. Some of them enhance the off-road capabilities while some modifications are made to make the SUV look more premium. Here we have a video where a Mahindra Thar is installed with a piggyback ECU.
The video has been uploaded by Murshid Bandidos on their YouTube channel. This is the same YouTuber who managed to topple his brand new Thar while trying to drift. The vlogger had done minor modifications like aftermarket alloy wheels and new tyres on the SUV. This is the first performance upgrade for the Thar. We have not heard about a Mahindra Thar getting a performance upgrade so far. It is probably, the first Thar to get such a treatment. In this video, vlogger talks about the benefits of installing a DieselTRONIC in Thar.
It is a plug and play system and that means none of the existing wires in the car need to be cut. The system is mapped for Mahindra Thar and it can be easily installed in the car within minutes. The piggyback comes with four modes which can be changed using the remote control that comes with the packet.
After installing, the vlogger takes the car on highway to test the system. There is Economy or Easy creep mode where the car feels underpowered and returns good fuel efficiency. Next is the stock mode where the setting match with the original mode of the car. Next is P1 where the driver can have fun while als0 get decent fuel efficiency. Throttle response in this mode is 20 percent more than the stock. The P2 mode is the sportiest where the engine generates most amount of torque and also the throttle response is 40 percent more.
In order to test the product, the vlogger drives the Thar while maintaining a constant speed in stock mode. His friend who was sitting right next to him presses the P2 mode in the remote and the way Thar behaved completely changed. The speed went from 80-100 kmph in the blink of an eye and that brought a smile on the face of the driver. Similarly, the car also performed well in the P1 mode where it offered a mix of both comfort and power.
He then drives the SUV off-road to test the E mode on the dieselTRONIC. The vlogger can be heard saying that the car is easily crawling through the slushy surface. The vlogger was very impressed with the product and said that this does not affect the fuel efficiency of the Thar.
