Ever since its launch, we have seen several videos Mahindra Thar being driven on different terrains. We have seen videos of it being driven on snow, slush, sand, gravel and even on road. Here we have another video from a vlogger that shows all-new Mahindra Thar and Mitsubishi Pajero SFX in a comparison video. As part of the comparison, vlogger does a drag race and takes both SUVs on slightly off-road section to find out which one is better.
The video has been uploaded by Waquar Chaudhary on his youtube channel. The vlogger starts by comparing the looks of both the SUV. Pajero SFX was a brute looking SUV in the segment when it was on sale. In terms of looks both Mahindra Thar and Pajero have that proper SUV look and have ample amount of road presence. The overall length of Pajero SFX is more than that of Mahindra Thar because it is a 7-seater SUV whereas Thar only seats 4 passengers.

Aftert comparing the looks, they conduct a small drag race on an empty stretch of tarmac. The race is conducted in two rounds. In the first round Mahindra Thar easily took the lead and won it. In second round, the Mitsubishi Pajero won by a very small margin. Mitsubishi Pajero when launched in India was available with a 2.8 litre turbocharged diesel engine that generated 107 Bhp and 275 Nm of torque. It is a heavy SUV when compared to the all new Mahindra Thar. Mahindra Thar diesel is powered by a smaller 2.2 litre turbocharged engine that generates 130 Bhp and 320 Nm of torque.
The vlogger then took it down the road to a mud road and started driving on the loose and uneven surface. As they are both SUVs, they had fair amount of body roll and it was visible in the video. The vlogger then takes it to steep mud hill section and engages 4 high in Pajero. Mitsubishi Pajero starts crawling up the section without any drama but after a point, the rear hit the ground and started rubbing against it. The departure angle on Pajero is not that great when compared with Mahindra Thar. Thar had easily gone up that section without any difficulties because of better departure angle.
Vlogger then brings the car down and continues driving on mud road. After covering some distance, vlogger comes across a less steeper mud hill section. The section was steep enough for both SUVs to engage 4WD and not that steep that Pajero will scrape its rear bumper. According to the vlogger, he had to engage 4 low in Mahindra Thar whereas the Pajero managed to climb up the section in 4 high. Vlogger says that both SUVs had performed well but, for him Pajero is the winner in the comparison only because even after being such an old vehicle, it was giving the all new Mahindra Thar a tight competition. He also mentions that he feels Mitsubishi Pajero SFX is a lot more comfortable than Thar or any other SUV in available in the market.
