Maruti Suzuki is finally preparing to launch the all new Celerio hatchback in the market on 10 November 2021. The hatchback has been spotted several times during the testing phase. According to reports, Maruti Suzuki dealers have been informed about the date on which the prices will be announced. Dates for sales and other training slots for the upcoming Celerio have also been shared with the dealers. Even pictures of an undisguised version of the upcoming hatchback are also available online. Maruti Suzuki had to push the launch due to reasons like shortage of semi-conductors and COVID-19. There is also a possibility that the launch might be delayed by few more days due to chip shortage.
The upcoming Celerio is an all-new model. In terms of design, it looks entirely different from the outgoing model. The boxy design on the older version is not carried forward. The new version gets a smooth and curvy design which is similar to other Maruti cars in the segment. It gets a redesigned headlamps, front grille and bumper.

The new model is based on Maruti’s HEARTECT platform which we have already seen on cars like WagonR, Swift and even on Ertiga. It is a stiffer and lighter platform than the older version. It will also offer more space on the inside. From the pictures that had leaked online months ago, it is clear that Celerio has grown in terms on size and the same is expected to reflect on the inside as well. The wheelbase on the upcoming Celerio is expected to be more than the current version.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio is expected to offer decent number of features as well. The car will come with a brand new design to the dashboard. It will get a touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering with audio control switches, power window, LED turn indicators on ORVMs, 14 inch all black alloy wheels (higher variants), ABS and airbags as standard and many more.
In terms of competition, Maruti Suzuki Celerio will rival with cars like Tata Tiago, Datsun Go in the segment. Maruti Suzuki Celerio has been in the market since 2015 and nothing much has changed in the hatchback over the years. Initially it was available with a diesel engine but, later that was discontinued. The upcoming 2021 model of Celerio will be offered with a petrol engine only.
It is expected to come with two petrol engine options just like WagonR. There will be a 1.0 litre, three cylinder K-Series petrol engine and there will be a 1.2 litre petrol engine as well. The 1.0 litre petrol engine will generate 68 Bhp and 90 Nm of torque. The 1.2 litre engine will generate 82 Bhp and 113 Nm of torque. The 1.0 litre engine will not be offered with the top-end ZXI model just like seen in WagonR. Both these engine options will be offered with a manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox option. Maruti might also offer a CNG version of the hatchback after the launch. Maruti is also working on a facelift for the Baleno premium hatchback as well.
