Maruti Suzuki Alto is one of the most popular cars in the Indian market. The entry-level car is one of the highest selling cars in the country and has accumulated sales of over 35 lakh units since its launch. Maruti Suzuki will launch the all-new Alto in the market in February 2019 that will replace the existing Alto. Here are all the details that you need to know.

The all-new Alto 800 will be launched to meet the new Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program (BNVSAP) that will be implemented for all the cars selling in the Indian market. The new norms will require safer cars that meet the regulations set by the government. The current Alto is not expected to meet the updated norms. The Indian government gas has also set a 2020 deadline for the BS VI emission norms. To meet the new regulations, Maruti will bring in the all-new Alto to the market.
The new Alto is expected to be similar to the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) spec Alto. The design has not been revealed yet but Maruti Suzuki is expected to take cues from the Suzuki’s domestic market’s design. Even though an all-new model of the Alto has been caught testing on the Indian roads numerous times, the model that is expected to be launched in India will be different.

Maruti is also expected to use the new 660-cc engine that powers the Japanese Alto. The three-cylinder engine produces a maximum of 51 Bhp and 63 Nm, in the Japanese market. In India, the specifications may change to suit the market. The all-new Alto will get some standard features like driver-side airbags, ABS and a reverse parking sensor that will be mandatory for all Indian cars after the BNVSAP.
