Maruti Suzuki Celerio was the first budget hatchback to offer an automatic transmission. It was the first hatchback on which Maruti Suzuki launched their AMT transmission. We know that the manufacturer is working on a new generation of the Celerio. Now, according to Financial Express,
the 2021 Celerio will be launched in the Indian market by mid of May 2021. The 2021 Celerio looks like it is from the ground-up which an all-new exterior and cabin.
The 2021 Celerio has been spied on the Indian roads quite a few times. We have showcased the spy shots before and you can read about them by clicking here. It will be based on the HEARTECT platform which we have Dzire, Swift, WagonR, Ignis and other Maruti Suzuki vehicles. This platform should make the hatchback safer than the current one. The tall boy design of the Celerio will be reduced in favour of a more hatchback like the design. The front headlamps are triangular and are flanked by a slim grille. Below the grille, there is the number plate holder and then there is a wide airdam.
From the side, we can see the new multi-spoke alloy wheels or styled wheels whereas the lower variant will still get a steel wheel. The door handles stay the same as the current Celerio. It seems like the turn indicators will be placed on the outside rearview mirrors. Whereas some spy shots showcased the turn indicators placed on the front fenders. It might happen that the higher variants get an outside rearview mirror-mounted turn indicator while the lower variants get a front fender-mounted turn indicator. From the rear, we can see the raked glass and the same door handle for the boot release too. There are newly designed tail lamps and a rear bumper which also houses the rear reflector strip. Overall, the 2021 Celerio looks more modern and sleeker than the current generation.

There are no LEDs on offer, the new hatchback will still be using halogen setups for all its lighting. However, Maruti Suzuki might offer LED Daytime Running Lamps as an official accessory just like they do with the S-Presso. For the interior, 2021 Celerio will get the latest generation of the Maruti Suzuki SmartPlay Studio System, which is a touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The manufacturer will be offering ABS with EBD, Dual airbags, rear parking sensors and a high-speed alert system as standard.
Maruti Suzuki will offer the 2021 Celerio with the 1.0-litre K10B naturally aspirated petrol engine. This is the same engine that we have seen on the WagonR, current Celerio and the S-Presso. The engine produces a max power output of 67 bhp and a peak torque output of 90 Nm. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. Maruti Suzuki has also started offering factory-fitted CNG variants known as S-CNG, the 2021 Celerio should also come with an S-CNG version. The manufacturer might also offer a 1.2-litre petrol engine just like they do with the WagonR. The engine produces 81 bhp of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. The 2021 Celerio should be priced around Rs. 4.5 lakhs ex-showroom.
