Maruti Suzuki’s latest version of Ertiga has been in news recently for all the right reasons. The latest iteration of the popular MPV will be bigger in size, will have more power and come with more features. We recently brought you leaked pictures of the new Ertiga without any camouflage, which show how it will look like and how good the interiors are. Today, we bring you another tip about the automatic variant of the car.
The new Ertiga will come with a 4-speed automatic transmission apart from the 5 speed manual unit. However, the automatic option will be available on two trims this time, on the higher Zxi trim as well as the mid Vxi trim. The current generation Ertiga has an automatic option on only the mid spec variant. The torque converter unit will be available on the 1.5 litre petrol engine that produces 104 Bhp of peak power. The auto transmission equipped top end variant will be welcomed by those who want a fully loaded car with an auto tranny.
As for the Ertiga, it is based on the new HEARTECT platform by Maruti that also underpins the latest generation Swift and Dzire cars. It has grown in length but most of that has gone into increasing space on the third row seat and boot, which were a major complain of buyers last time. Also, the new Ertiga will have a formidable competition this year to beat in the form of the Mahindra Marazzo
The interiors and exteriors of the new car are now much more feature laden and smart to keep up with the competition. On the outside, the gets new sleek head lamps and a smart chrome grille. The rear also gets L-shaped lamps and the Ertiga looks much more intimidating now than the previous generation model. On the inside, it gets a touchscreen infotainment system, a new steering wheel and a dual-tone dashboard among others. The interior looks very premium thanks to the abundant use of faux wood.
The new Ertiga will be powered by a 1.5 litre petrol engine and a 1.3 litre diesel with SVHS mild hybrid system. The automatic variant will be available only with the petrol variants while the diesel will make do with only a 5-speed manual. Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Ertiga on 21 st November. It is expected that the prices will start at around Rs. 6.5 lakhs, ex-showroom to keep it competitive but it is not confirmed as of now.
