All-new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 unmasked completely ahead of launch

The Royal Enfield Himalayan is one of the most successful bikes from the Chennai-based bikemaker. The newest iteration of this adventure motorcycle dubbed the Himalayan 450, has been talked about for quite some time now. Most recently, the company shared its first-ever teaser along with the coordinates of the first drive location for this upcoming bike. Now, with further advancements on this highly anticipated bike, a set of pictures of a fully undisguised Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has surfaced online. The pictures show the bike in extreme detail without any covers or camouflage.

From the first picture, what we can observe is that the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will come equipped with an all-new steel trellis frame, which will be the basis of this bike. This new frame brings a lot of changes to the structure and design of the bike. At first glance, the differences might not be as noticeable. However, there are a good number of differences between the outgoing Himalayan 411 and the upcoming Himalayan 450.

Front end redesign

Starting at the front of the bike, the first and the most important change will be the suspension. The outgoing Himalayan 411 comes equipped with telescopic fork suspension on the front. However, the upcoming Himalayan 450 will get a USD fork suspension setup. The tires and the spoke wheel design have been kept the same, along with the lower mudguard. Although the upper mudguard has been extended a little and has been given an all-new design. The headlight also appears to be the same round unit as the outgoing model, but this time it gets an LED setup on the inside. Additionally, the indicator design has also been changed from a small rounded shape to more of a trapezoidal shape with LEDs in them.

New frame and design

Moving on to the right profile of the Himalayan 450 spy shot, we can also note a few more changes. The first and the most important one being the new steel trellis frame, as mentioned. This frame seems a little more robust than the outgoing model’s frame and gives the bike a newer and bolder appearance. The center Himalayan logo positioning has been changed, and along with it, the fuel tank has also been changed. The fuel tank now seems a lot bigger and muscular as opposed to the slender fuel tank of the Himalayan 411. The front exoskeleton design has also been made thicker and now houses the new Royal Enfield emblem.

New LCD instrument gauge

Coming to the biggest update of the bike, it can be noted that the multiple gauges on the cluster of the outgoing Himalayan 411 have been replaced by a single circular digital LCD display. This new screen will display all the essential information of the bike. It will most likely also be offered with Bluetooth connectivity. Additionally, the switchgear on the handlebar has also been revamped.

Side profile

Taking a look at the bike from the side profile, it can be noted that the bike gets a huge and newly designed split seat setup, along with a new rear carrier design. It also gets a monoshock suspension wedged under the front seat. Additionally, it can be noted that the entire bike in these pictures has been finished in black, including the body and other mechanical and non-mechanical parts. Lastly, from the rear end spy shot, it can be noted that the bike will also get an all-new LED taillight and the same set of new indicators as the front.

All-new liquid-cooled engine

Talking about the main highlight of this bike, the all-new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is the first-ever Royal Enfield to feature a liquid-cooled engine. This engine has been built from scratch by the Chennai-based bikemaker and will be a completely new 450cc single-cylinder engine. As per the reports, this new engine will most likely produce around 40 bhp of power and 45 Nm of torque. As for the gearbox, it will likely be a six-speed unit.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will be making its official debut between October 30 and November 1. Meanwhile, on the pricing side of things, it is likely to be priced at around Rs. 2.6 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched in the Indian market, the new Himalayan 450 will compete against models like the KTM 390 Adventure X, BMW G310 GS, and the upcoming Bajaj/Triumph Scrambler 400X.
