Skoda India will be launching the fourth generation of the Octavia tomorrow. The production of the new executive sedan has already started and the dealerships have started receiving the first units of the Octavia. The Octavia will be competing against the Hyundai Elantra. However, the Octavia is expected to be priced much higher than the Elantra. Now, the manufacturer has revealed some new key details about the Octavia. The pricing of the Octavia is expected to start from Rs. 25 lakhs ex-showroom.
Up-front, you get an entirely new set of Bi-LED adaptive headlamps with projector setups with LED Daytime Running Lamps that double up as turn indicators. The headlamps are also animated so they show an animation whenever you come close to the Octavia or leave it.
Skoda’s butterfly grille is now larger and integrates with the corners of the headlamps. It also comes with LED fog lamps and newly designed 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The Style variant will get a different design of alloy wheels.

The new sedan is based on the MQB EVO platform. The Octavia measures 4,689 mm in length, 1,829 mm in width and 1,469 mm in height. The wheelbase of the Octavia measures 2,680 mm. It has a massive boot space of 600 litres and the boot space can be increased up to 1,109 litres when seats are folded. This is due to the fact that Octavia’s boot opens like a hatchback.
At the rear, you get sharper-looking LED tail lamps which also have an animated function. You also get dynamic swiping turn indicators. The rear of the sedan is cleverly designed so it looks like a coupe but does not compromise on headroom. The ‘SKODA’ lettering is spread across the boot and there is also a shark-fin antenna.
Then we come to the cabin of the Octavia which has also been redesigned. You get soft-touch materials for the dashboard, door pads and all the other touchpoints. It comes with ambient lighting, a new two-spoke steering wheel, wireless charger, electronic parking brake with auto-hold function and much more. There is a new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and the driver gets a new generation of the virtual cockpit which is a digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system will be paired with a sound system sourced from Canton.
For safety, Skoda is offering front and rear parking sensors, underbody protective cover, up to 8 airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, an anti-lock braking system, Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, Ibuzz Fatigue Alert, Multi-Collision brake and much more.
Powering the Octavia will only be a single petrol engine. It is a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that produces 190 PS of max power and 320 Nm of peak torque. It will come mated to a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox that uses shift by wire technology. Skoda is also offering paddle shifters mounted behind the steering wheel, in case you want to have a bit of fun. The Octavia can hit a ton in just 7.4 seconds and has a top speed of 240 kmph.
There are a lot of features on offer too. You get keyless entry on all four doors, push-button to start/stop the engine, hands-free boot lid, rear parking camera, leather-wrapped steering wheel, hands-free parking, cruise control, 12-way electric adjustment for driver seat with memory function, dual-zone climate control and much more.
