All-new Suzuki Jimny to be officially unveiled soon; Features & other details leaked online

There have been many speculations about the upcoming all-new Suzuki Jimny being the next-gen Maruti Gypsy for India. While the company is yet to give us an official word on this, the next-gen Jimny has inched closer to making its debut in the Japanese domestic market. The all-new Jimny will be revealed later this year and Suzuki Motor Corporation recently commenced the production of the upcoming SUV.

The new-generation Suzuki Jimny seems to have looked to the iconic G-Wagen for design inspiration. The front-end features a black 5-slat radiator grille, round projector headlamps and circular fog lamps that are housed in the front bumper. The SUV also gets black-painted, 5-spoke alloy wheels and a well-pronounced crease that bridges the bold wheel arches. The upcoming model, that will be available in dual-tone colour schemes, will offer a contrasting colour shade for the roof and the ORVMs.

Akin to the Maruti Gypsy, the next-gen Jimny has a 3-door body type. The features list will include a touchscreen infotainment unit that will support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other notable features include an automatic climate control system, multi-function steering wheel, auto wipers and auto headlamps. The all-new Jimny will be available in multiple trim levels.

The SUV will go on sale with a set of petrol engines. While the company is yet to make an official announcement about the specifications, the Jimny is pretty sure to get a 660-cc, 3-cylinder, petrol engine to benefit from the relaxations for Kei cars in its home market. Also on offer will be a version of the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged Boosterjet petrol engine that powers the Maruti Baleno RS. It will also offer the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspired petrol engine in some markets. The new Jimny will come with a four-wheel drive and a low-range gearbox.

Like we said, the company is yet to reveal its plans of launching the new Jimny in India to replace the Maruti Gypsy. However, we will update you with more info as soon as we get our hands on some.
