Suzuki has revealed the new S-Cross in the foreign market. We are expecting Maruti to also launch the 2022 S-Cross in the Indian market because the current generation of S-Cross is not doing well. We can expect this to happen sometime next year. Here, we have the new-gen S-Cross in a walkaround video.
The video starts by showing the front of the S-Cross. We can see the new front that looks more aggressive because of the new bumper and headlamp design. The headlamps are all-new and use LEDs. There are also LED Daytime Running Lamps. The new grille has a hexagonal shape with a thick chrome slat in the between. There is a faux skid plate and a flat bonnet.
On the sides, there is thick plastic cladding and newly designed alloy wheels. Suzuki is not offering roof rails but they have mounted the LED turn indicators on the outside rearview mirrors.
The rear has also been completely redesigned. There are new split tail lamps that are connected via black strip. You also get a rear wiper with a washer, high mounted stop lamp and a rear fog lamp. Suzuki has used a lot of black plastic for the rear bumper and a faux skid plate to give it a rugged look.
There are a lot of badges at the rear whereas most of the other manufacturers are now trying to give a clean look to the rear. Overall, the 2022 S-Cross looks more like a SUV whereas the current S-Cross looked like a crossover. This should help in increasing the sales of the new S-Cross.
The 2022 S-Cross has a length of 4,300 mm, a width of 1,785 mm and a height of 1,585 mm. The wheelbase of the new S-Cross measures 2,600 mm. It has the same dimensions as the current S-Cross. Only, the height has been decreased by 10 mm. It is still based on the Global C platform but Suzuki says that the platform was updated slightly. So, you can consider the new S-Cross to be a heavy facelift.
Then we come to the interior, where you would see a mix of old and new elements. There is a new floating 9-inch infotainment system that comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The user interface of the infotainment system is also new. We might see the same infotainment system on the upcoming Baleno Facelift and 2022 Vitara Brezza.
There are newly designed analogue dials but the multi-information display is the same, only the graphics have been updated slightly. The multi-function steering wheel, AC vents, automatic climate control, gear knob and switchgear has been carried over once again.
2022 S-Cross is powered by a 1.4-litre BoosterJet turbocharged petrol engine that produces 127 hp of max power and 235 Nm of peak torque. It is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. There is also Suzuki’s AllGrip AWD system on offer. Moreover, the hybrid system has been upgraded to now 48 Volts.
