All-new Tata Safari luxury SUV launched in India

Tata has launched the all-new Safari in the Indian market today. This is the second vehicle based on the OMEGA-Arc platform of the brand after the Harrier. The all-new Safari will take on the likes of MG Hector Plus and Mahindra XUV500. Tata will start customer deliveries of the Safari today.

The all-new Safari is powered only by the diesel engine option. It gets both manual and automatic variants. The Safari is available in 9 variants and below are the variant-wise prices of the all-new Safari. Tata has also added a Safari Adventure edition that gets a unique colour and a different colour theme inspired by nature. The cabin gets brown interior inspired by the sand dust of the desert. Also, the exterior gets a unique colour that is developed specially for the variant. Even the wheels of the Adventure Edition look different and are in black colour.

From the front, the Safari looks quite similar to the Harrier. It gets the Humanity Line grille at the front and the extended part of the grille becomes the LED DRL that also acts as a turn indicator. The grille of the Tata Safari is all chrome and it gets halogen high beam and Xenon low beam lamps. The Tata Safari is also much longer and higher than the Harrier. It also gets roof rails but they are not usable in the top-end variant that gets a panoramic sunroof. Yes, they can be loaded with luggage in the other variants.

The all-new Safari keeps the two-step roof design alive. With the stepped roof, the third roof passengers get ample headroom. There are 18-inch alloy wheels that get thick wall tyres. The Safari gets a long list of features too. There is a floating type infotainment system that gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It gets iRA connected technology while the instrument cluster gets an analogue-digital set-up. The Safari also gets a massive panoramic sunroof, just like the Harrier.

The cabin of the Safari gets three-row seating and middle row seats. There is an option of a six-seater and seven-seater version. The six-seater version gets pilot seats in the middle row. It also gets a boss mode that allows the rear seat occupant to adjust the co-driver seat without disturbing the driver.

Tata Safari is powered by the 2.0-litre KRYOTEC diesel engine that generates a maximum power of 170 PS and peak torque of 350 Nm. There is a choice between a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. There is no petrol variant available with the all-new Tata Safari, however, we may get the petrol variants at a later date.

The vehicle also gets a long list of safety features. It gets a 14-function ESP that gets various traction modes, terrain modes and more. All the four-wheels of the Safari get disc brake too. The vehicle gets six airbags with the top end variant too. Tata is yet to get the Harrier or the Safari to the NCAP test so we are not sure about the ratings of the vehicle yet. However, we may get the Global NCAP ratings soon.
