All-new Toyota Fortuner Legender reimagined as a police car

Toyota launched the Fortuner Facelift in January. Along with it, they launched the Legender variant of the Fortuner, which comes with more features and a more sporty and aggressive look. The Fortuner is known for its capability, road presence and reliability. All of which are needed to be a perfect police car. Here is a Toyota Fortuner rendered as a police car by Motorbeam.

The Fortuner does look quite good and imposing in the police livery. The Fortuner is painted white with a “POLICE” decal on the bonnet. There are red and blue light strips placed on the front of the grille that will be visible in the outside rearview mirrors of the people that are going ahead of the SUV. At the side, there are yellow, blue and red stripes that start from the front and travel across the whole length of the SUV. There is also a logo placed on the stripes. The blue and red police light bar is placed on the blacked-out roof of the Fortuner.

Coming to the Fortuner itself, Toyota has made some cosmetic as well as mechanical updates to the SUV so that it can stand in the competition better. The Fortuner now comes with LED projector headlamps, a redesigned front grille that is inspired by the Lexus models. The grille is surrounded by a piano-black boundary. The Legender variant gets bi-projector LED headlamps setup and sequential turn indicators. Both the SUVs now come with 18-inch alloy wheels, but the wheel design itself is different. The Legender gets a 5-spoke design, whereas the regular Fortuner comes with 6-spoke alloy wheels. At the rear, you get a different more aggressive bumper design with sleeker LED tail lamps.

The interior also got quite a bit of change. There is a new touchscreen infotainment system that now comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The infotainment system is connected to an 11-speaker sound system sourced from JBL. Now, the SUV also comes with ventilated front seats which is a boon for a country like ours where we have scorching summers. The Legender variant adds a bit more kit such as wireless charging, powered tailgate with a sweep feature. There is also a slightly more aggressive front bumper and dual-tone paint job. However, the Fortuner still misses out on an electric sunroof which both of its rivals offer.

Then there is the mechanical change. Toyota has bumped up the power output of the 2.8-litre V-GD diesel engine. The engine now produces a max power of 204 Bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or an automatic transmission. Only the diesel engine is available with a 4×4 powertrain and the Legender is only offered with an automatic transmission that drives only the rear wheels. There is also a 2.7-litre petrol engine available with the Fortuner. The engine produces 166 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 245 Nm. It is also mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or an automatic transmission. Toyota Fortuner starts from Rs. 29.98 lakhs ex-showroom and goes all the way up to Rs. 37.58 lakhs ex-showroom.
