Demand for adventure motorcycles have considerably gone up in country over the years. We now have adventure motorcycle both in affordable segment as well as expensive segments. With more and more brands entering this segment, it is evident that adventure motorcycles are becoming popular among motorcyclists. Triumph, which is a UK-based motorcycle brand has number of models on offer here in India and they today launched an all-new Triumph Tiger 900 adventure motorcycle in the Indian market. It is definitely an expensive motorcycle, priced at Rs 13.70 lakh, ex-showroom.
Triumph had unveiled the new Tiger 900 in December last year. The all-new Tiger 900 is launched in the market as a replacement for the older Tiger 800 which was a popular adventure tourer motorcycle from the brand. Triumph had plans to launch the all-new Tiger 900 early this year but, the plan got delayed due to the ongoing pandemic situation.
Triumph Tiger 900 as the name suggests is powered by a 900-cc, inline three cylinder, engine that generates a maximum of 95 Ps and 87 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The new Tiger 900 is available in three configurations. First one is Tiger 900 GT which is priced at Rs 13.70 lakh, ex-showroom, second is the Tiger 900 Rally which costs Rs 14.35 lakh, ex-showroom and the top-end Tiger 900 Rally Pro at Rs 15.50 lakh, ex-showroom. The GT version gets alloy wheels whereas the Rally and Rally Pro version come with spoke wheels. All these motorcycles will be sold in India as a completely built unit (CBU) which is why they have such a high pricing.
Triumph Tiger 900 is a feature loaded adventure motorcycle. It has a new 7-inch TFT instrument console, with different colours and layouts. The motorcycle also gets My Triumph Connectivity function that helps controlling a GoPro Camera. Other features on offer are bi-directional quickshifter, heated seats and hand grips, Tyre pressure monitoring system, traction control, cornering ABS, 6 riding modes and so on.
In terms of the design, it has an aggressive looking front similar to the ones seen in other Triumph adventure motorcycles. The headlamps and LED DRLs get a new design and that gives it a more sharper look at the front. at the rear it gets a typical adventure tourer bike like design with upswept exhaust and an LED tail light.
