Amitabh Bachchan’s latest ride is India’s most EXPENSIVE MPV: 5 times costlier than the Innova Crysta!

Amitabh Bachchan, the veteran Bollywood actor is also known for his love for cars. He moves around in a lot of luxurious vehicles including the Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography, Rolls Royce Ghost, Bentley Continental GT and even a Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Senior Bachchan recently sold his Rolls Royce Ghost but he replaced it with a much more affordable vehicle – the Mercedes-Benz V-Class. The MPV from the German automaker is popular around the world for its luxurious interiors and features and is often dubbed as the “S-Class” of MPVs.

The all-new V-Class was launched earlier this year in the Indian market priced at Rs 68.4 lakh. Mr Bachchan took the delivery of the vehicle himself and also posed in front of the vehicle while taking the delivery. Mercedes-Benz offers two variants of the V-Class in India but we are not sure about the variant bought by Mr Bachchan as the vehicle was spotted from only one angle and there are no other pictures of the vehicle. The V-Class Expression Long wheelbase is priced at Rs. 68.4 lakh while the higher-end Extra LWB version is priced at Rs 81.9 lakh. Both the prices are ex-showroom, pan-India.

This is the third-generation V-Class model in India. The long wheelbase version gets 6 seats while the extra long version offers a seating capacity for 7 occupants. Mercedes-Benz primarily targetted the Service industry (Tourism) in India that consists of luxury hotels and transportation services but being an extremely luxurious car, we may see more celebrities getting their hands on the all-new V-Class. The car gets conventional front doors while the rear seats can be accessed through a sliding door. Until now, Amitabh Bachchan has been often seen driving his own car but we think that the same would not happen much with the V-Class.

The V-Class offers some extremely high-end features. the middle row seats can be rotated 180 degrees to face the rear seat passengers. It serves perfectly for the businessmen who would want to have a meeting on the move or celebrities who want to do interviews on the move among many other things. Other features include an ambient lighting system that can change the ambience of the vehicle by changing the lights of the cabin, Mercedes Audio 20 infotainment system for navigation and multimedia experience. It gets six airbags, attention assist, crosswind assist, collision prevention assist, headlamp assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, blind spot detection, 360-degree cameras, lane assist and active park assist.

Mercedes offers only the 2.1-litre BS-VI compliant diesel engine with the V-Class in India. The engine produces a maximum of 163 PS and a peak torque of 380 Nm. It gets a 7-speed automatic transmission. There are no competitors of the V-Class in the Indian market at the moment. However, Toyota is expected to launch the Alphard MPV that will take on the V-Class directly.
