Anand Mahindra says that the all-new Mahindra Thar.e will go into production

Anand Mahindra, the CEO of one of the country’s most influential companies, Mahindra Group, recently shared a tweet that might make a ton of automotive enthusiasts happy. The billionaire CEO, in his recent tweets, stated that the Mahindra Thar.e, an extremely unique concept of the electrified Thar, will be going into production. The company unveiled this all-electric concept of the Mahindra Thar at its annual Independence Day event in South Africa.

The Mahindra chief, Anand Mahindra, shared a video of the Mahindra Thar.e concept and posted a very promising tweet on X (formerly Twitter). The tweet stated, “Nope. Not just a concept. From the moment we all saw the prototype, we were committed to making this a reality…” From the tweet, we can gather that the entire Mahindra brand, along with the company CEO Anand Mahindra, has decided to make the Thar.e a reality. Mr. Mahindra and the company, as of yet, have not shared any further details about the vehicle’s launch date, but most likely it will be heading into production.

As mentioned, Anand Mahindra, along with the statement, also shared a video of the all-new Mahindra Thar.e all-electric lifestyle off-roader concept. In the video, it can be noted that a woman wears a VR unit on her head and can then be seen experiencing the new Mahindra Thar.e performing some extreme off-roading on what appears to be the planet Mars. The Thar.e EV SUV can be seen effortlessly traveling through steep hills of the planet, highlighting its tremendous off-road capabilities. The car then comes to a stop at the top, and during this time, the video shows the interior rendering of the car, as well as the finer details of the exterior.

For those who might have missed it, the Mahindra Thar.e, as the name suggests, will be the all-electric version of the already popular Mahindra Thar lifestyle off-roader. The electric Thar can be seen boasting an all-new design language, departing from the traditional ICE-powered Thar. This new model, although currently in the concept stage, has been shown only with a five-door configuration.

The concept vehicle has been displayed with an extremely futuristic design on the outside. However, despite the futuristic design, it still looks like a very capable off-roader. The model also boasts very high ground clearance, thanks to its raised suspension and impressively large wheel tires. The SUV looks extremely imposing and purpose-built.

At this instance, the company has not released any comprehensive details about the new Thar.e’s electric drivetrain. However, it is anticipated that the production variant of this futuristic SUV could potentially feature a 60 kWh battery pack sourced from BYD, the popular Chinese electric car manufacturer backed by billionaire Warren Buffet. There have been reports that electric motors from Volkswagen could also be imported for this vehicle.
