Ather 340 & 450 electric scooters web commercial released [Video]

Ather Energy, a Bangalore-based electric mobility start-up funded by the likes of Flipkart and Hero MotoCop, just launched its first ever electric vehicles in the form of the Ather 350 and 450 electric scooters. Both electric scooters are the most advanced electric two-wheelers ever built in India. Indigenously designed and developed in India, both scooters feature cutting-edge technological innovations, paving the way for more such products in the coming years. Here is a web commercial showing the various interesting bits about the Ather 340 and 450 electric scooters, both of which were launched yesterday. Web pre-bookings are now open, and deliveries will begin in the next couple of months.

Both electric scooters are squarely aimed at electric mobility within the city. On sale in Bangalore first, the Ather 340 and 450 electric scooters will have electric quick charging outlets placed every 4 kilometres within Bangalore. This model will be replicated phase-wise in other cities. The Ather 340 is priced at Rs. 1.1 lakhs, on-road Bangalore, and is powered by an electric motor that generates about 6 Bhp and 20 Nm. The real world range of the Ather 340 is 60 kilometres. The pricier Ather 450, priced at Rs. 1.25 lakhs, gets a 7.2 Bhp-20.5 Nm electric motor, will deliver a 75 kilometres real-world range and will accelerate to 40 Kph from standstill in just 3.9 seconds.

Conventional bits on the scooter include the hydraulic disc brakes on the front and rear wheels, telescopic front suspension and a monoshock rear shock absorber. Both scooters get a 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system with 4G internet connectivity. From on-board navigation to diagnostics, both scooters are tech packed with features never seen before on other scooters sold in India. Ather Energy is taking a Tesla-like approach when it comes to sales by selling these scooters in an online-only model. After sales service will be handled by technicians who will directly visit the homes of Ather 350 and 450 owners.
