Electric vehicles are going to be the future of mobility. Realising the potential, several mainstream vehicle manufacturers have already entered this space and have launched their products. Several start ups have also come up with electric vehicles. manufacturers like Tata, MG and Hyundai have launched electric cars whereas the Ather, TVS and Bajaj have electric scooters. Among scooters, one of the best looking electric scooter is from Ather and here we have a video of an owner who has been using the Ather 450 electric scooter for almost an year sharing his experience.

The video has been uploaded by Talking Cars on their youtube channel. In this video both presenters ride a scooter one of them is a Vespa whereas the other is Ather 450. Both of them ride it in city limits and highway and talk about the overall experience of owning the Ather 450 scooter. The presenter who owns the Ather 450 actually had bought this scooter around an year ago and he has been using it regularly. He is pretty much happy with the product and start talking about all the features and benefits that he is enjoying after buying the scooter.

He starts with the way Ather 450 looks. It is without any doubt one of the best looking scooter in this segment. It has a sporty design and has enough riding range to be a city scooter. Ather 450 has a claimed range of 75 kms but, the owner had managed to squeeze out over 80 kms by making some changes to the riding style. There is no complaints regarding the fit and finish of the product and he is happy with the service too.

It is a smart scooter and the owner can store all his information like a copy of license, RC, insurance all stored inside the touchscreen instrument cluster. It also shows condition of the vehicle and has inbuilt maps and other features for convenience. If some error occurs, the system detects it and displays it on the screen which the owner can directly share with Ather. According to the owner, they respond quickly, come and pick the scooter and drop it back once the servicing is done.

When he bought the scooter he opted for a plan. In this plan, service cost is included and Ather also transfers money into his account every three month depending upon the units he has utilised for recharging the scooter. Technically, he has zero running cost for the scooter. The owner had done almost 80+kms on the scooter and still there was enough juice in the battery to reach a nearest charging station which Ather had set up. Charging from Ather’s charger is free and it is a fast charger too. By the time, they come back from the lunch, scooter was completely charged. Owner mentions that, when he initially bought the scooter, he had range anxieties but, after he started using the scooter regularly he managed to overcome it.

He then talks about the things that he did not like about the scooter. First thing was the mirror itself. They are not wide enough to show the objects properly. The suspension is bit on the stiffer side and the owner wanted it to be a bit softer. Ather had told him that, they did it intentionally to give it a sporty character. The tyres where another issue. They tend to loose pressure regularly. Apart from these small issues, he is pretty much happy with the Ather 450 overall.
