Audi launches facelifted A3 cabriolet

Audi India has always offered a diverse product range in India, to suit everyone’s demands. While Audi had the A3 Cabriolet on sale in the Indian market, the A3 model range has been given an update globally which means that the Cabriolet too has received an update. This update has reached our shores before the sedan version of the A3 which means that the new A3 sedan is going to follow in soon.

Audi launches facelifted A3 cabrioletThe A3 now gets full LED headlamps, a newly shaped LED DRL, a new grill and a more muscular and edgy front bumper. The tail lamps have been updated slightly and now get the dynamic turn indicators, something that Audi has always offered on their model range. As standard, the company is offering a soft-top roof which has been produced with light weight material. You could however opt for an acoustic roof with noise insulation as an option. The soft-top roof is controlled by a hydraulic mechanism which can open and close upto a speed of 50 kmph and doesn’t require the vehicle to be stationary for the same.

On the inside, the vehicle gets dual-zone climate control, leather seats and a 7″ MMI screen with navigation. What this does miss out on is the virtual cockpit, which is a surprising omission. Customers can opt for a Bang and Olufsen sound system as an option. In terms of safety, the car comes equipped with 5-airbags, ABS, EBD and Audi parking plus, which includes front and rear parking sensors as well as rear parking camera.

While changes on the outside are minimal, changes under the hood are major. Gone is the 1.8 liter TFSi unit that was previously on offer on the A3 Cabriolet. That has now been replaced by the more modest 1.4 liter TFSi petrol engine that is on offer on the A4 too and this produces 148 Bhp and 250 Nm, as opposed to the 177 Bhp the 1.8 liter engine made. This engine also gets Audi’s cylinder on demand technology which temporarily shuts down cylinders when the engine is working at partial load. The company now claims that the engine returns a fuel economy of 19.20 km/l.

Since the vehicle is a CBU, it is priced at Rs 47.98 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi.
