Audi has launched a more powerful variant of its best-selling A4 sedan. The new Audi A4 variant comes with a 2-litre diesel engine that puts out 177 bhp of power. It will appeal to enthusiasts who wanted a bit more power from the Audi A4 sedan, without having to shell out a lot more for an S4. The A4 2.0 TDI is priced at Rs. 31.74 lakh ex-showroom Mumbai.
This new car has 27% more power and 3% better fuel efficiency than the older Audi A4. It is also the first launch this year with Joe King at the driver’s seat, the man who has replaced Michael Perschke as head Audi India. Says King, ““The Audi A4 has been Audi’s longest and best-selling sedan for close to 40 years now. More power, more torque, more fun
The Audi A4 2-litre diesel now puts out 177 bhp of power at 4200 rpm and 380 Nm of torque at 1750-2500 rpm, mated to a multi-tronic 8-speed automatic transmission. The earlier Audi A4 put out only 143 bhp of power and 320 Nm of power. Audi claims the car can do 0-100 kmph in 7.9 seconds. It also has a claimed fuel-efficiency of 17.11 kmpl.
The car also comes with one of Audi’s better-known features – the Audi Drive Select system. This allows the driver to switch driving modes between Comfort mode for relaxed city driving, Dynamic mode for highway driving and Auto mode which figures out the driving conditions and adjusts automatically. In addition, in the “Technology Grade” variant, there is an “Individual” mode where the driver can mix and match settings. These modes alter engine behavior, steering set up and transmission shift points.
Audi currently has 27 dealers around the country and plans to increase it to 35 dealers by the end of the year. Also watch: Audi Q5 video review
Step-up finance scheme for Audi
With the new A4 it has also announced a new finance scheme – a step-up payment program, where a customer can opt to pay an EMI of Rs. 29,000 per month for the first two years, Rs. 49,000 per month for the next two years and Rs. 59,000 per month for the subsequent years, till the end of the loan tenure. In this way, buyers who expect better income from business in the following years can choose to buy and Audi straight away at lower EMI and pay more later.
