Auto Expo 2020 is all set to start early next month. It is that time of the year when automobile manufacturers, both Indian and non-Indian brands would be showcasing their new vehicles for the Indian market. India’s largest manufacturer Maruti Suzuki also has three big unveil at the Auto Expo this year. The models that they would be unveiling this year at the expo are Vitara Brezza facelift, Futuro-e concept and Ignis facelift.
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Facelift
Brezza is the most popular sub-4 meter compact SUV in its segment. It has been in the country for a while and ever since its launch it had retained the top most position in the sales chart. With competition increasing in the market from Korean and even Indian brands, it was appropriate for Maruti Suzuki to give the Brezza a fresh look. Some cosmetic changes like redesigned headlamps and tail lights and some minor changes are expected.
As of now, Brezza is only available with a diesel engine which is a 1.3 litre unit sourced from Fiat. With newer BS6 emission norms in place Fiat will discontinue the 1.3 litre unit and the Brezza facelift will get a 1.5L unit that is developed by Maruti Suzuki itself. It will be the same engine that we have seen in Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6. The 1.5 litre engine will get SHVS system and will probably get a proper Automatic transmission instead of AMT.
Maruti Suzuki Futuro-E
Next unveil from the house of Maruti Suzuki will be the all electric SUV concept Futuro-E. Couple of days ago, Maruti released a teaser image of concept and it looks promising. The Futuro-E electric SUV has a coupe design towards the rear and it also reveals the sharp looking headlamp and stretched out LED tail lights in the teaser image. Maruti has not revealed much information about the concept and is not known whether this concept will become a production model in future.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis Facelift
Ignis is a hatchback that is sold exclusively via Nexa group of dealerships. Maruti Suzuki will also unveil the facelifted version of the Ignis at the Auto Expo this year. Ignis will get a new look as it would get the SUV inspired front grille similar to the one seen on Brezza. Other updates include a new bumper, fog lamps, faux skid plate for that rugged look.
Ignis will continue to be powered by a 1.2 litre BS6 compliant petrol engine that produces a maximum of 83 Ps and 113 Nm of torque. It gets a manual gearbox and AMT gearbox as an option. With BS6 compliant engine and cosmetic changes, price for Ignis may go up.
