Bajaj begins deliveries of Pulsar 250

Bajaj has started delivering the new Bajaj Pulsar 250 to its customers. The first person to take the delivery was also a previous owner of the legendary Pulsar 220F. He opted for the F250 which comes with a front fairing. The delivery was done in Pune on the 15th of November from Shourya Bajaj.

Bajaj has launched two versions of the Pulsar 250. There is F250 and N250. As the name suggests, F250 comes with a front fairing and the N250 is the naked version of the same motorcycle. The N250 is priced at Rs. 1.38 lakhs ex-showroom and the F250 is priced at Rs. 1.40 lakhs ex-showroom.

The front headlamp is the same on both the motorcycles. It is an LED projector unit that houses the low beam as well as the high beam. The difference is between the LED Daytime Running Lamps of both the motorcycles. The side fairing and the cowls integrate with the muscular fuel tank seamlessly in both the motorcycles. The F250 gets raised clip-on handlebars whereas the N250 comes with a regular single-piece handlebar. If you will be riding more in the cities then the F250 makes more sense because the raised clip-ons provide an upright posture whereas the N250 is more dedicated as the person has to sit aggressively.

Engine and gearbox

The 250 cc engine that is now being used on both motorcycles is all-new. It is an air-oil cooled unit, single-cylinder engine that comes with fuel injection. It also gets Bajaj’s DTS-i technology. The engine produces 24.5 PS of max power at 8,750 rpm and a peak torque output of 21.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox which now gets a slipper clutch.

The engine is torquey so you would not have to change the gears frequently. Bajaj has reduced the vibrations by using an offset crankshaft. The clutch action is also very light and a gearbox is also a slick unit. There is no VVA or Variable Valve Actuation as the previous rumors suggested. The fuel efficiency of the engine is 39 kmpl as per ARAI. However, Bajaj says that you should be able to get a fuel economy figure of between 35 kmpl to 40 kmpl.

Ride Quality and Handling

Bajaj has nailed the ride quality of both motorcycles. The tuning of the suspension is perfect. It is not too bouncy nor too stiff. It is still able to absorb most of the bumps and still provide confidence in the corners. Bajaj is using 37 mm telescopic front forks and a mono-shock at the rear. The rear mono-shock is all-new and has more wheel travel.

Features

There is an all-new instrument cluster which Bajaj calls  “infinity display console” because it has minimal bezels. It looks much better on the N250 because of the naked design. It still houses an analogue tachometer in the centre and a digital instrument cluster on the right side. There is also a side stand indicator, rpm limit light, distance to empty, time, odometer and two trip meters. Moreover, Bajaj has also added a USB charging socket to the motorcycle.
