Royal Enfield motorcycles offer an upright seating position and firm seats that are designed to offer good comfort over long distances. Bajaj Auto has taken a dig at the riding comfort of Royal Enfield through the latest Dominar ad in the Haathi Mat Paalo series. The latest ad shows a young elephant massaging the back of a motorcyclist. According to the commercial, this is meant to relieve the back pain that the motorcyclist is feeling after riding the Enfield. Soon, a group of Bajaj Dominars join the scene, with the riders looking fresh and comfortable, and riding past shaking their heads. Here is the latest video.
The Dominar is powered by a 373cc, triple spark plug four stroke engine. This engine is said to be derived from the KTM Duke 390, but with lesser horsepower, a single overhead camshaft and some other design changes. The four valve engine gets liquid cooling and fuel injection though. It produces 35 Bhp of peak power and 35 Nm of peak torque. It is paired to a 6 speed manual transmission. The Dominar offers telescopic front forks and a single rear monoshock for suspension. The bike gets alloy wheels and tubeless tyres as standard. Disc brakes are standard on both wheels and dual channel ABS is optional. Prices of the Dominar start from Rs. 1.44 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi.
The Dominar offers excellent value for money. It is very peppy, and can reach a top speed of 148 Kmph. It has an LED headlamp as standard, and also is well built. It’s sporty enough for riding fast while being comfortable enough for long distance rides. The bike is not only sold in India but is also exported to many foreign markets. However, sales of the Dominar are far from stellar in the Indian market, where it does an average of around 1,000 units. Almost all Royal Enfield 350cc bikes beat the Dominar in a big way when it comes to sales. To counter this, Bajaj Auto is running a series of commercials under the ‘Haathi Mat Paalo’ tagline.
