Bajaj launches Pulsar NS160 in India

Bajaj Auto has silently launched an all-new motorcycle, Pulsar 160. After the motorcycle was caught testing quite a few times in India and was recently launched in the Turkish market. Bajaj has not officially announced the launch yet, but the motorcycle has been spotted at various showrooms across India and carries a price tag of Rs. 82,400. The dealerships that do not have the motorcycle at the showroom says that bookings will open from July.

Bajaj launches Pulsar NS160 in India

The engine of the Pulsar 160 is derived from the Pulsar 150’s engine but with a bigger cubic capacity. The engine gets 160.3cc and also gets an oil cooler, similar to the Pulsar 200 and Pulsar 220. The new engine generates a maximum power of 15.5 Bhp at 8,500 rpm and 14.6 Nm at 6,500 rpm, respectively. The gearbox is a five-speed unit.

The new Pulsar 160 is built around the same steel perimeter frame on which the Pulsar NS200 is based on. There are telescopic forks at the front, and a gas charged mono shock at the rear. Both the wheels are of 17-inches. The front wheel gets 80/100, and the rear wheel gets 110/80 profile tyre. The motorcycle gets 240mm disc brake with a petal disc at front and rear is a 130mm drum brake. There is no information on the rear disc variant.

The Pulsar NS160 looks similar to the NS200, showing the aggressive design. The NS160 gets the headlight, instrument cluster, fuel tank, split seats, tail section and tail lamp from the NS200. The motorcycle is also 10kg lighter than the NS200 and weighs only 142 kg.

The Pulsar NS160 is priced more than the Pulsar 180 but generates more power. Bajaj will be targeting premium commuter motorcycles like the Honda Hornet, Suzuki Gixxer and the Yamaha FZ-FI v2.0 with the new offering in the market.
