The world we live in has become embedded with technology. One of the most recent technological advancements that India is seeing is AI cameras. These AI cameras have been installed in numerous locations in the southern state of Kerala. They have been installed for the purpose of monitoring traffic violations. However, recently, an AI camera managed to become a professional photographer and captured a lovely moment. The image captured by the AI camera showed a couple riding a motorcycle, with the woman pillion smiling.

A Happy Accident

Earlier this year, the Kerala government managed to install a wide network of AI cameras across the state. This was aimed at reducing traffic violations and reducing road accidents. Ever since the installation of these high-resolution cameras on various highways, the state has seen a reduction in road accident fatalities by 50 percent. However, it wasn’t just traffic violations that these cameras managed to capture.

One of these AI cameras has captured what could be described as a perfect romantic moment. This particular challan, with an image that shows a young couple on a motorcycle, has gone viral. In this high-resolution picture, the man is focused on riding while the woman on the pillion seat is smiling, possibly in response to something the rider said.

Netizens have highlighted that the genuine, heartfelt smile captured in the moment struck a chord with viewers. Many people have also dubbed the image as one of the most romantic photos they have seen. People have been cherishing the irony that it was taken by an AI camera, which has been designed for an entirely different purpose.

The image was originally shared on the Instagram page Vandi Bhranthanmar. The post humorously stated, “What if I got a Rs 500 fine? I got a great photo that not even a good photographer might be able to capture. I really wish the AI camera could offer the same picture in color so that I can use it for my ‘Save the Date.’”

The Reality Behind the Romance

Now, while the image has won the hearts of many online, it is important to note the circumstances under which it was captured. The AI camera issued a fine because the woman on the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet. This is a clear violation of traffic safety regulations. It can be noted that the image is in black and white. This is due to it being taken during the night.

Kerala and Its AI Cameras

Kerala’s AI camera project has come with a significant investment. It has been reported that the state government spent around Rs. 232 crores to install and operate these high-tech devices. The cameras are capable of detecting a variety of traffic violations, including riding without a helmet, carrying more than two people on a two-wheeler, and using a mobile phone while driving.

These violations are then forwarded to a central data center located in Thiruvananthapuram, following which they are reviewed before fines are issued. Despite some controversies and challenges, including instances of wrongly issued challans, the AI camera system has been largely effective in promoting safer driving habits.
