Ather Energy will launch the updated 450 series electric scooters in India on January 4. It’s now been confirmed by a teaser shared by CEO and co-founder Tarun Mehta on social media. Ather had previously revealed that the new 450 will race two sporty ICE scooters- 160cc and 125cc- on a high-speed test track on the above-mentioned date. This will likely give the 2025 Ather 450 series the debut it deserves.
What New Things To Expect In 2025 Ather 450?
In the teaser, Tarun hinted at significant upgrades incoming for the 2025 450. “A lot has changed on the inside,” he said, promising an improved performance alongside enhanced safety features. The post reads:
“The 2025 Ather 450 is debuting at #TrackAttack this week. We’re introducing a bunch of new updates. A lot has changed on the inside, taking the scooter’s performance up a notch, and making your ride even more thrilling and safer. And for those who like to max out their ride, we’ve got an exciting update. Lights, Camera, Track-tion.”
The vehicle will get an improved traction control system that could be called the ‘Skid Control’ upon launch. The electric scooter would thus be able to handle tricky terrains and slipper roads better.

The new Ather 450 will also get the ‘Magic Twist’ feature. First seen in the Ather 450 Apex and later in the Rizta, this allows you to use the throttle for both accelerating and braking. A normal twist would let you accelerate and doing a reverse twist would bring about regen-braking. This setup will allow for a more seamless and efficient riding experience.
In addition to these changes, the new scooter will also feature the AtherStack 6. This is the latest and most updated version of Ather’s software platform. It is claimed to offer smoother performance and better energy management, along with new customization options.
Some reports also say that the update will give the 450 series of scooters a set of new exterior colours as well. Currently, the scooter is available in a total of 8 colourways.

Excitement Builds for #TrackAttack
The high-speed track race planned for the launch aims to showcase the 2025 Ather 450’s performance capabilities and acceleration. Competing against ICE-powered vehicles will allow this electric scooter to demonstrate its true potential and give people reasons to consider it over petrol scooters. The new 450 could deliver exciting speed, acceleration and handling.
The Road Ahead
With these updates, Ather Energy could reaffirm the position of the 450 electric scooter range in the segment. The competition is on the rise in the electric scooter space. Key rivals include Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, BGauss B8, Ola scooters etc. The Chetak recently got a major overhaul. The new Ather scooter is expected to stay competitive to this and more models.
