BMW F 450 GS Spotted Testing In India: Will Be Made By TVS!

BMW Motorrad, back in November of last year at the famed EICMA show held in Milan, Italy, showcased the F 450 GS adventure motorcycle. This bike, which managed to grab a lot of eyeballs at the event, was recently spotted testing on Indian roads. This suggests that the company is gearing up for the official launch of the F 450 GS in India. The BMW F 450 GS is based on a brand-new platform and will feature a parallel twin engine. In India, this bike is expected to be priced around Rs 4–4.5 lakh.
The most recent spotting of the test mule of the BMW F 450 GS took place in Karnataka. This particular prototype was seen wearing heavy black camouflage, which managed to hide most of its unique design elements. However, we can note the bike will be getting a parallel twin engine. This has been confirmed by the presence of two exhaust headers in the engine. Additionally, the bike had saddle boxes, which might have contained data-logging equipment.
As per the reports, the main highlight of the BMW Motorrad F 450 GS will be its 450cc liquid-cooled, parallel twin four-stroke motor. This powerplant will be capable of producing around 48 bhp and 45 Nm of torque. In terms of the gearbox, the bike will come equipped with a twin overhead camshaft and four valves per cylinder.
What will be more unique about the F 450 GS will be its firing order. This motor will have a 125° firing order. With this, the bike will get a more distinct exhaust note and will provide it a higher-revving character. Additionally, the torque delivery will be very broad, and the low-end grunt for trials and top-end speed for highways will be higher.
The upcoming BMW Motorrad F 450 GS will be getting a strong steel trellis frame, which will be inspired by the BMW R 1300 G. It will feature a long-travel suspension, which will also offer adjustability. It is assumed that the suspension travel will be reduced from 230mm of the concept vehicle to a more practical 180–200mm in the production model.
Additionally, the seat height of the production F 450 GS will be dropped from 885mm to 820–830mm for accessibility reasons. Braking duties on this highly anticipated adventure motorcycle will be handled by disc brakes on both ends. The front will get 19-inch alloy wheels, and the rear will be a 17-inch wheel.
Higher variants of the F 450 GS could be getting wired spoke wheels. In terms of technology, the F 450 GS is expected to get a large full-colour digital display. Additionally, top trims are expected to get the Enduro Pro model, an advanced electronics package including ride modes, traction control, and cornering ABS.
As per the reports, the BMW Motorrad F 450 GS will be manufactured by TVS Motors, which is its strategic partner, at its Hosur facility. In terms of pricing, it is believed that the company will launch this bike in the range of Rs 4–4.5 lakh. As for the launch timeline, it is expected to be launched around Q3 of 2025, with deliveries before the festive season.
