The 2025 edition of EICMA- the most sought-after global two-wheeler expo has seen some exciting launches and unveils from several manufacturers. Several India-bound motorcycles also made their debuts at the event. Here is a quick look at everything interesting from Royal Enfield, Hero Motocorp, Aprilia, KTM, Ducati and BMW.
Royal Enfield
The Royal Enfield pavilion saw the debut of three new models, one of which is the manufacturer’s first-ever electric motorcycle. New entrants included the Bear 650, Classic 650, and Flying Flea C6. The brand also had a plethora of custom builds, accessories, concepts and collaborative builds in its pavilion. In another major incident, the Indo-British motorcycle brand announced its new EV vertical- Flying Flea and even announced the first two motorcycles from the sub-brand- C6 and S6.
Flying Flea C6
The C6, the brand’s first all-electric motorcycle, merges classic design with futuristic electric vehicle technology. The subsidiary draws its name from Royal Enfield’s original “Flying Flea” motorcycles from WWII. It comes with retro looks, a low-slung bobber-styled seat, a distinctive front rake angle, and a girder fork front suspension- rarely seen on mainstream motorcycles today.
The C6 also gets a forged aluminium frame, even though it sits in the entry-level urban EV space. Other highlights are an LED headlight, a touchscreen TFT dashboard, low-resistance tyres, front and rear disc brakes, and refined switchgear. The vehicle showcased at EICMA was a solo seater. RE might, however, offer an optional pillion seat upon launch. The battery capacity, motor output and range are yet to be disclosed. The battery is seamlessly integrated into the frame. We expect 100-150 km in range for the production-spec. Royal Enfield’s first ever EV will be out by Spring 2026.
Flying Flea S6
Royal Enfield also showcased the S6 scrambler EV at the expo. It has a retro design and uses the same platform as the C6. It, however, will come with USD forks that offer substantial travel, spoke wheels, high ground clearance, dual-sport tyres, a flat seat and a chain drive.
Bear 650
Classic 650
The final big EICMA launch from Royal Enfield is the Classic 650. The parallel-twin produces 47hp at 7,250rpm and 52.3Nm of torque at 5,650rpm on this motorcycle. The transmission remains the same 6-speed unit with a slip-and-assist clutch. At 243 kilograms, this is the heaviest of all modern Royal Enfields.
The motorcycle shares many of its parts with the Shotgun 650- the main frame, twin shock absorbers, brakes, and swingarm are quick examples. It, however, comes with new 19/18-inch wire-spoke wheels and a 43mm telescopic fork. The Classic 650 gets MRF Nylohigh tyres—100/90-19 at the front and 140/70-R18 at the rear, and a 14.8-litre fuel tank.
For instrumentation, there is a digi-analogue display that features a gear position indicator and includes the Tripper navigation pod. There are adjustable levers as well. Available colours are Vallam Red, Bruntingthorpe Blue, Teal, and Black Chrome. You will be able to see this motorcycle at Motoverse in Goa. India launch will likely happen in February 2025.
