Girl Rider's Yamaha RX135 Slips On Wet Road: Why It Happened [Video]

Riding on rainy days is a very fun activity to do; however, it is equally risky as well. This is because, as the roads are wet, any small mistake can lead to a slip, resulting in an accident. The severity of the accident completely depends on the speed at which the vehicle was being ridden. Recently, a video has been shared online in which it can be clearly seen that braking while turning on a wet road is bound to result in an accident. Thankfully, the girl rider, riding the iconic Yamaha RX135 motorcycle, managed to save herself from falling over.
This video, showing the incident of braking on a wet road, has been shared on Instagram by Motor Lavender and Jishnu Stunts on their pages. In this short clip, the girl rider, who was riding a Yamaha RX135 two-stroke motorcycle, was taking a right turn on a rainy day under a bridge.
However, while doing so, the female rider applied the front brake of the bike, and as a result, it slipped. Thankfully, the video shows that, as the speed of the bike was slow, only the bike fell on the road, and the rider was able to stand on her feet without completely falling over. She was then seen picking up the motorcycle. After this, the video shows her enjoying the ride of the bike.
For those who may be wondering why this Yamaha RX135 slipped on the road despite its slow speed, there are a couple of reasons. The first and main reason is that the road on which the bike was being ridden was wet. Due to the water on the road, the tyres of the bike—or any vehicle—lose a lot of traction. As a result, if the brake is suddenly applied, it causes the vehicle to lose balance.
Also, the rider in the video can be seen slightly leaning while taking the right turn under the bridge. When the bike is in a leaned position, the contact patch between the tyre and the road becomes smaller. When this is combined with the water on the surface of the road, the bike cannot be controlled and slides off.
Lastly, the drum brakes of this super-light two-stroke motorcycle are very powerful. Applying them mid-turn is a recipe for disaster. Today, modern motorcycles come with ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), which prevents wheel lock-up and skidding. However, old bikes like the Yamaha RX135 did not come with such features. So if you are riding your old bike on wet roads, make sure to be very careful.
The Yamaha RX135, as we all know, is one of the most legendary bikes ever sold in India. This bike was launched in India back in 1997 as a successor to the iconic Yamaha RX100. This motorcycle was powered by a high-revving two-stroke 132cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. It made 14 bhp of power and 12.25 Nm of torque. Transmission duties were handled by a 4-speed gearbox. The bike could reach a top speed of 110 kmph.
