The electric scooter to be launched in India is based on Honda’s CUV e: electric scooter. The CUV e: is a 110cc-equivalent model powered by two Honda Mobile Power Pack e: swappable batteries. The CUV e:’s name is derived from the CUV ES (Clean Urban Vehicle Electric Scooter), Honda’s first lease-sold electric scooter introduced in 1994.

The CUV e: is equipped with three riding modes—Standard, Sport, and Economy. It is highly likely that the Indian version of the scooter will also include an economy mode. Similar to the CUV e:, the upcoming electric scooter from Honda is expected to offer a swappable battery pack.

The Honda CUV e electric scooter concept that was showcased at EICMA 2024 will form the basis of the electric Activa, albeit with India specific changes!

The Indian version of the electric scooter will incorporate market-specific changes. There is also a possibility that Honda might choose a different name for the scooter. The Honda Activa has been a popular scooter in the Indian market since its launch. Its popularity is so widespread that many people compare other scooter models to the Activa. Honda set a high benchmark with the Activa.

Consumers have high expectations when a new iteration of the Activa is launched, and it is unlikely that Honda would want to lose its stronghold by giving the electric version a different name.

The upcoming Honda electric scooter will directly compete with models like the Bajaj Chetak, Ather 450X, Ola S1, and TVS iQube. Honda is renowned for offering reliable motorcycles, and it is expected that the company has conducted thorough market research while developing this model. If Honda prices the new electric scooter aggressively, it could increase competition and pressure on brands like Ola and others.

Honda is a trusted brand in the Indian market, and customers hope it has addressed and resolved the common issues faced by electric scooter riders. The Honda Activa electric scooter is set to launch on 27th November, with the event scheduled to take place in Bengaluru.
