The video has been shared by Honda 2 Wheelers India on their X profile and in this video, we get a glimpse of the electric motor of the upcoming scoooter. In fact we see three details of the scooter in this video. The first one is the electric motor. Next we see the front fairing and a portion of the headlamps.
It looks like the scooter will be offered with an all LED headlamp unit and the lights are expected to be positioned on the lower part of the front fairing. This is just an assumption and we could be wrong as well. It might either get an all-new design or Honda might continue with the more familiar Activa design which is already on sale in the market.
The third detail in the video is of the seats. The scooter is probably going to have a long seat. We see Honda’s badging over the engine or in this case motor cover. We have several new players in the market with electric scooters but, Honda waited took their dear time with the development and research. We are hoping that the upcoming Honda Activa electric scooter will be an extremely refined and reliable product that the customers have been waiting for.
Honda Activa is a very popular name in the scooter segment. In fact, the segment itself is called Activa segment by many competitors. Honda Activa has been in the market for around 23 years and popularity for this scooter has only gone up. Honda introduced new features and design elements in the scooter over the years.
The upcoming electric version of Activa is expected to have performance figures similar to the 110-cc ICE version. Honda is likely to offer dual-swappable battery packs which will make things more convenient for the riders. The scooter will have riding modes and the battery pack is expected to return range of approximately 100 km. The claimed range might be more than this.
As any electric scooter available in the segment, Honda will offer a TFT instrument cluster with several connected features. It may also come with a colour display which would act a dashbaord to monitor all the settings and SOC. It might also support google maps. It needs to be seen if the scooter will come with integrated navigation system or will it only show navigation once connected via Bluetooth.
As this is an electric scooter, Honda will be offering it with decent number of safety features including ABS. It might also get a large underseat storage which many manufacturers are currently showing off.
The Honda Activa will compete with the likes of TVS iQube, Ather Rizta and Bajaj Chetak. The scooter will be officially unveiled to the world on 27th November. We hope Honda launches the Activa electric at an attractive price tag.
