Upendra is actually a 56 year old actor who is predominantly working in Kannada film industry. He has worked as an actor, film director, film producer, screenwriter, playback singer, lyricist in the industry. Other than being a part of the film industry, Upendra is also active in state politics. In this video that has been doing rounds on the internet, we see the actor along with his son sitting on an old Ind Suzuki AX 100 motorcycle.
The bike was actually bought by the actor Upendra. We are not sure if it was the actor’s first bike or not. Upendra’s son decided to get the bike restored completely and surprise his father. We do see the actor sitting on the pillion seat of the bike with a smile on his face. The actor is wearing a helmet while his son is riding the bike.
The actor was surprised when he realised that his son had restored his 36 year old AX100 motorcycle. The motorcycle seen here is finished in the signature Red shade with yellow or golden yellow shade.
One of the major issue that many people face while restoring such motorcycles is sourcing parts. In this video, the turn indicators on this motorcycle do not look stock. We feel, the workshop was unable to source the original ones and they had to go with a clear lens unit from a modern motorcycle.
The Ind Suzuki AX100 was actually the first motorcycle to get launched in the Indian market under the partnership of Suzuki Motor Corporation and the “Sundaram Clayton” which is now known as TVS. This was the first-ever 100cc motorcycle launched in India.
The motorcycle gained popularity in the market but, after sometime, it started losing market as rivals like Yamaha entered the segment with bikes like RX100. The production cost of the motorcycle also increased and the manufacturer couldn’t maintain the price with the competition.
It was an extremely simple looking motorcycle with a 98-cc, single cylinder, 2-stroke engine. The engine generated 8 Ps and 9.6 Nm of peak torque. It was mated to a 4 speed gearbox. The motorcycle had a claimed top-speed of 85 kmph.
Coming back to the actor, we see Upendra sitting on the same bike with a riding helmet. It looks likes the actor took a ride and came back and then his son decided to take the bike for a spin. We are assuming that they were riding the bike on a private road and did not take the bike on public road without wearing a helmet.
Riding a two-wheeler without helmet is illegal and is extremely dangerous. We have seen cops take strict action against those who behave irresponsibly on the road.
