Helmetless Riders Get Fined In Real Time From Police Control Room [Video]

Two-wheeler riders flouting rules on public roads is a common thing in many places in India. Although we have surveillance cameras and cops on duty in several places, people often don’t feel the urge to follow rules and they end up getting fines for these violations. Well, Karnataka traffic police also noticed similar trend among two-wheeler riders and decided to come up with a unique way to fine and embarrass people who were violating traffic rules.
The video has been shared by Superintendent of Police, Shivamogga District on his official X profile. In this video, we see a traffic police sitting in the control room making an announcement through the telephone receiver.
The telephone receiver was connected to a speaker at a traffic signal. The officer in the control room was actually addressing a two-wheeler rider who was travelling with his family in an Ather Rizta electric scooter. The rider was not wearing a helmet and the pillion and his kid were also not wearing helmet.
The officer who was in the control room spotted the scooter and started making an announcement. In the announcement, he mentioned the scooter number, the colour of the dress that the rider was wearing. After the rider noticed the announcement, the officer on duty told him that riding a two-wheeler without proper riding helmet is an offence.
While the announcement was made, other people who were waiting at the signal started noticing the scooter and the reaction of the scooter rider was also captured here. He looked embarrassed as the officers made a public announcement about the violation.
He was actually looking around and was probably trying to figure out from where the officer saw him. After talking abou the violation, the officer on duty also spoke about the reasons and he mentioned that this violation would invite him a fine of Rs 500.
We are not sure if the rider was left with a warning or did they actually issue a fine. Bengaluru traffic police is often known to take swift actions against traffic violations. They are active on social media too and they use it to monitor the surroundings and issue fines to offenders.
Riding a two-wheeler without a helmet is illegal and dangerous too. Many people don’t understand the importance of a good quality riding helmet. They often try to find excuses to avoid it. A riding helmet helps you from head injuries in case you have an accident on the road.
In this case, the rider was not alone, he was travelling with his wife and kid. The rider was not only putting his own life at risk but the lives of the pillions too. Ideally both rider and pillion should wear a proper helmet and if possible try to avoid the half face helmets as they do not provide proper protection.
Not only wear a helmet but, also ensure that you are wearing the straps as the helmet may come off if you don’t secure the straps properly in case of an accident.
