TVS Motor Company has officially confirmed that Norton Motorcycles will launch in India by the end of 2025. This comes after months of anticipation and follows a major trade agreement between India and the United Kingdom. TVS Managing Director Sudarshan Venu has let out the big news, putting an end to long-standing speculations.

The iconic British motorcycle brand will not only sell its products in India but will also commence local manufacturing. TVS plans to start manufacturing Norton motorcycles at its Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu by the end of this year. This move marks a big step for both TVS and Norton.

Sudarshan Venu said, “Our British brand Norton will launch later this year and this agreement will help us scale faster and leverage common supply chains.”

TVS acquired Norton in 2020 for ₹153 crore. Since then, the company has invested over ₹1,000 crore (£100 million) into rebuilding and upgrading the brand and its products. Initially, the focus was on solving problems in older Norton motorcycles. The re-imagination of Norton as a brand is being helmed by Robert Hentschel, who has a world-class team for the same.

Norton’s existing models, like the 961 Commando and V4SV, are already available in the UK. These will soon launch in India and will compete directly with high-end Royal Enfield, Harley Davidson, Triumph and other retro-style motorcycles. However, the spotlight will be on Norton’s all-new range of motorcycles that are expected to follow shortly after.

Now, TVS is preparing to introduce a brand-new lineup of motorcycles under the Norton badge. It has plans to launch six new bikes globally over the next three years. At least one or two of these are expected to debut in India as well.

The new motorcycles will be designed in Europe but will be manufactured in India. TVS believes this will help keep the bikes true to the Norton name while still keeping them at price points accessible to most Indian buyers.

Norton's new Solihull (UK) facility will continue to produce these motorcycle, alongside the Hosur facility. According to Sudarshan Venu, the company aims to keep the bikes premium while using TVS’s strengths in quality manufacturing to keep costs in check. He also stressed that the design, engineering, and marketing will remain European to preserve Norton's identity.

The newly signed India–UK Free Trade Agreement will help Norton scale faster. TVS expects this deal to improve supply chains and reduce barriers to production and export. Venu said the agreement will support Norton’s expansion, both in India and abroad.

We expect to have a first glimpse of the new motorcycles sometime around September 2025. These will enter the fast-growing retro motorcycle segment in India, which has seen strong demand in recent years. With brands like Triumph and Harley-Davidson already producing bikes in India, Norton is expected to follow a similar path.

With strong backing from TVS and a clear strategy in place, Norton is now set for a major comeback. Indian riders can soon expect to see the return of a legendary name — this time with local roots and global ambitions.

Manufacturing partnerships aren't new to TVS. The two-wheeler major already manufactures various BMW Motorrad products at the Hosur facility. Models like the 310cc motorcycles and the CE 02 electric scooter are already being made there. Many of these products have been co-developed with TVS, proof of TVS' engineering excellence and global trust.
