BMW has put its 6-Series range of sports luxury cars through a Life Cycle Impulse (LCI) or in other words, a mid life makeover. Mild is the word that describes the BMW 6-Series’ LCI for 2015 that requires a trained eye and close observation to notice the changes on the car range. The 6-Series will continue to be sold in coupe, gran coupe and convertible forms, including the very sporty M6 model. Engines and transmissions remain bog similar too, making us wonder what the LCI is all about. It’s purely visual and that’s pretty much the be all and end all of the 6-Series LCI.
Getting a handle on the changes that the 2015 BMW 6-Series range sees, you have a mildly updated grille that gets 9 vertical slats instead of the 10 that the outgoing model featured. Up front, the LED fog lamps have new surrounds. The flanks reveal alloy wheels that feature a new design while the rear remains untouched. BMW now offers a Black Accent package for the 2015 6-Series that adds black coloured trim for the alloy wheels and bits that would otherwise feature a chromed finish. BMW sells the 640D Gran Coupe and the M6 cars from the 6-Series range in India.
These cars are imported through the completely built units on order. Given their CBU import status, expect the LCI to make its way into these cars sometime next year. The 640D sold in India uses a 3 liter-inline 6 twin turbo diesel engine that churns out 313 Bhp of peak power and 630 Nm of peak torque. The rear wheel driven Gran Coupe uses an 8 speed automatic gearbox for torque transmission. The M6 also uses an 8 speed automatic gearbox for torque transmission to its rear wheels. However, the engine on the car is a 4.4 liter V8 twin turbo motor that pumps out 560 Bhp and 680 Nm.
