BMW G 310 GS motorcycles arrive at showrooms ahead of customer deliveries

German motorcycle manufacturer BMW Motorrad launched its most affordable adventure-tourer motorcycle in India on July 18. With the iconic BMW badge adorning its fuel tank, the all-new G 310 GS should attract a host of buyers despite its rather steep price tag of Rs. 3.49 lakh, ex-showroom.

For those riders hoping to get their legs on the footpegs of the baby adventure-tourer Beemer and head off into the wild, there is good news. Tusker BMW, a BMW Motorrad showroom in Bangalore, put out an image of the first batch of G 310 GS motorcycles arriving on the back of a flatbed ready for customers to ride home on.

The new BMW G 310 GS is powered by the same 313-cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that powers the G 310 R and the TVS Apache RR 310, all three of which are built at TVS’s Hosur production facility thanks to a joint venture between the German and Indian motorcycle marques.

The BMW G 310 GS’s engine, which is mounted in reverse on the tubular steel frame cranks out 34bhp @9,500rpm and 28Nm of torque @7,500rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox, which sends power to the rear wheel. The BMW G 310 GS sprints from 0-50 km/h in just 2.5 seconds and continues to accelerate till it tops out at 143 km/h. To take care of the rough terrain, BMW has fitted the G 310 GS with 41-mm upside down forks and a monoshock at the rear both of which have a travel of 180 mm.

The front wheel of the G 310 GS is a 19-inch unit while the rear is a 17-inch affair. Braking duties are handled by a 300-mm disc with four-piston callipers up front and a 240-mm single-piston calliper at the rear. The BMW G 310 GS also gets a switchable ABS system. In addition, the G 310 GS features a height adjustable seat to help riders fin their perfect riding position.

In terms of design, the G 310 GS features the iconic GS lineup design cues including the beak-shaped front-end along with the high ground clearance and the high exhaust. The new BMW G 310 GS comes in three different colour options that include Pearly White Metallic, Racing Red and Cosmic Black.

The G310 GS comes with 3years or unlimited kilometres warranty, which can be increased to 5 years. BMW Motorrad also offers the G 310 GS on easy monthly installment plans through BMW Financial Services.
