BMW G 310R and GS 310R launch date REVEALED

BMW Motorrad has just revealed the launch dates for its latest, relatively affordable sportsbikes for the Indian market – the G 310R naked sportster and the GS 310R adventure motorcycle. Both motorcycles will be launched in India on the 18th of July, 2018. Bookings for both motorcycles are already open at BMW dealerships across the country, against a refundable deposit of Rs. 50,000. The price announcement and delivery details for both motorcycles will happen on the 18th. Notably, both BMW G 310R and GS 310R are fully manufactured in India. In fact, BMW Motorrad’s Indian partner – TVS Motors – builds both motorcycles at its Hosur factory.

The BMW G 310R and GS 310R will be the two most affordable motorcycles sold by the German motorcycle marque in India. In fact, these bikes are BMW’s entry-level offerings worldwide. In India, expect to pay about 3-3.5 lakh rupees for the G 310R and about 3.5-4 lakh rupees for the GS 310R. While both motorcycles share most of their mechanicals with the TVS Apache RR 310, they’ll be positioned much higher in terms of pricing, thanks to the BMW badge value.

As for sales and after sales service, both motorcycles will be sold and serviced through BMW’s car dealership network, which also handles motorcycle sales under the BMW Motorrad brand. Both BMW G 310R and GS 310R will be powered by a 311cc, reverse inclined four stroke, single cylinder engine. This engine puts out 34 Bhp-28 Nm, and gets liquid cooling, a four valve head, twin overhead camshafts and fuel injection as standard.

The gearbox is a 6 speed manual unit. Twin disc brakes and ABS will be standard. Suspension on both motorcycles consists of upside down front forks and a monoshock rear. Notably, the GS 310R will offer higher suspension travel and a softer suspension set-up in order to handle bad roads. The road biased G 310R will have a stiffer suspension for sharper on-road handling.
