BMW G 310R naked sportsbike’s India launch just weeks away, says BMW Motorrad

In just a few weeks from now, BMW Motorrad will launch its most affordable motorcycle in the Indian market – the G 310R naked sportsbike. The bike will be manufactured at TVS Motors at Hosur. In fact, TVS has already started manufacturing the G 310R in India, but only for export markets presently. All this will change from January this year, as the BMW bike is officially launched here.

This was confirmed by a BMW Motorrad customer service representative to Rushlane, who asked when the bike will be launched in India, and at what price. The representative however, declined to reveal the price, only saying that it would be competitive. We expect the bike to be priced slightly higher than the Apache RR 310S, due to the higher brand positioning of BMW. The new bike is expected to carry a price tag of about Rs. 2.5 lakhs.

The BMW bike shares most parts with the recently launched TVS Apache RR 310S, including the reverse inclined engine. This four stroke, single cylinder engine will have similar power and torque outputs on the BMW G 310R, with peak power and torque expected to be about 34 Bhp-27 Nm. A 6 speed manual gearbox will be offered as standard. Suspension components include upside down front forks and a monoshock rear.

Disc brakes are standard on both the alloy wheels and so are tubeless tyres. ABS will be offered as standard. This is not the only affordable bike that BMW Motorrad will launch in India next year. An off-road oriented variant of this bike, called the GS 310R will also be launched before the end of 2018. This bike will also be built by TVS Motors, but will be price higher, at about Rs. 3 lakhs. Both bikes will be sold and serviced through BMW Motorrad dealerships.
