People buying fancy numbers for their vehicles is not a new phenomenon. Some individuals opt for a fancy number for all their vehicles, while others prefer the same number for all their cars. Many actors and billionaire businessmen engage in this practice to make their vehicles more recognizable on the road, with some even choosing such numbers based on numerology. Here, we have a BMW i7 owner from Kerala who acquired the fancy number 7777 in an auction, paying 7.7 lakh for it.

The car in question is a BMW i7, the electric version of BMW’s popular 7-Series luxury sedan. Many well-known actors and businessmen own this electric luxury sedan. What makes this fancy number auction unique is its connection to the number seven. When the number was put up for auction, a total of seven people participated, all bidding for the number 7777. Eventually, Dr. S. Raj, Managing Director of Fairfuture Overseas Education Consultancy, successfully purchased the number for 7.70 lakh. The i7, for which he bought the number, also happens to be his seventh car.

Mr. Raj, a native of Thevara in Ernakulam district, recently purchased the luxury electric sedan. Mr. Raj and others participated in the auction after paying a base amount of Rs 50,000. The BMW i7 is one of the most expensive luxury electric sedans from the German car manufacturer, with prices for a brand new BMW i7 starting at Rs 2.03 crore, ex-showroom, and going up to Rs 2.50 crore, ex-showroom. The BMW i7 was launched in the Indian market last year as the electric version of the 7-Series sedan offered by the manufacturer. Compared to the regular 7-Series, the i7 features blue accents in various places, new alloy wheels, an ‘i’ badge on the large front grille, and more. The large front grille in the i7 is similar to the 7-Series and comes with LED strips outlining the front grille.

Similar to the ICE version, the i7 is loaded with features. It offers a curved display for infotainment and the instrument cluster, as well as a 31.3-inch 8K cinema screen mounted on the car’s roof that can be folded down. Additionally, the rear doors feature a 5.5-inch touchscreen to control infotainment, climate control, and seats. Other features include multi-zone climate control, leather seats, electrically adjustable seats with memory and massage functions, and more.

The BMW i7 is available in one variant, the i7 xDrive 60, which generates 544 Ps and 745 Nm of peak torque. The car is equipped with two electric motors, one mounted on the front axle and the other on the rear axle. It is powered by a 101.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that provides a driving range of 591 km to 625 km. The BMW i7 supports both AC and DC fast charging. Using a 195 kW DC charger, the car can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 34 minutes. It is a popular car among Indian actors, with actresses Rekha, Jacqueline Fernandez, Kim Sharma, and actor Shekhar Suman, as well as Ajay Devgn, all owning a BMW i7 electric sedan. Many actors including Dulquer Salmaan and Disha Patani own the 7-Series too.
